While Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos has stated that the company has no plans to release a Rock Band 3 in 2009, that doesn't mean the music is going to stop. Sure, we expected the weekly downloadable content to continue to pour into the Rock Band Music Store. But there might be more music coming that we could have even imagined.
According to a Billboard article (via Yahoo! News), "MTV said it plans to increase the number of available song this year to as many as 5,000." Yes, that's five-thousand. Five zero zero zero. Currently, between retail discs (Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and the Wal-Mart-exclusive AC/DC disc), there are close to 600 playable for the game Harmonix have often referred to as a platform.
Doing the math, that means we'd be looking at close to 100 individual tracks being released weekly. Quite frankly, that sounds pretty ridiculous. Unless Harmonix/MTV plan to flood the Rock Band music store with content, iTunes-style, it's hard to imagine they'll reach their goal. I contacted MTV to clarify, but haven't heard back from them at the time of writing.
So, uh, what 4400 songs would you like to see come to Rock Band in 2009?
I is in heavens? ;o;
4400 songs?! Oh boy...so many possibilities...so many....I cannot wait...but Jesus Christ, we going to be poor people by years end after pouring our money into the DLC.
Music industry dying my ass, sheez.
Also, Rock Band needs more ska.
Yeah.. no.
I would like to see more:
Iron Maiden
Balzac
The Misfits
Guttermouth
Hatebreed
Agnostic Front
The Human Abstract
Pantera
Sylosis
Mad Caddies
and so on...
And maybe some Game related music. Would be awesome to play Katamari Damacy songs in Rock Band!
Please?
MUSE
MUSE
...
Good eye!
I've caved, but I'll list by band [again] rather than by song, because that would just be too intents.
I'm totally down with Chuck Berry.
But what I'm after is a far more METAL line up.
I'd say Apocalyptica, but it doesn't seem appropriate because they all play cellos :\
But, I want more Avenged 7x, some Avian, Blind Guardian, Bloodsimple, Dark Empire, Demons & Wizards, Dimmu Borgir, more Dream Theater, Evergrey, Five Finger Death Punch, Gates of Winter, Iced Earth, more In Flames, some Jeff Loomis stuff to match the other badass guitar instrumentals a la Joe Satriani, more Megadeth, some Mushroomhead, Nevermore, Orphaned Land, Persuader, Pink Floyd, Pyramaze, Raintime, Savage Circus, some Sonata Arctica, Symphorce, Tad Morose, The Black Mages, The Eternal, some fuckin' THERION, some Type O Negative, and Zero Hour.
And (you may have noticed they're in alphabetical order) those are just the bands who's albums I own. Theres still tons more that I would like to see!
I'm not even so picky about sub-genre when I'm playing them rather than listening. Bring on the Death and Black metal, and TONS of Power Metal, give me Acropolis, give me Elven King, more Testament, Gamma Ray, Seventh Wonder, Martriden, Srenity, OPETH, OTEP, Sabaton, Grave Digger, ReinXeed, Manowar, Circle II Circle, Stratovarius, Rhapsody, Firewind, Draconian!
I want to be balls deep in songs that are going to whoop the shit out of me.
I realize I've refrenced both GH AND RB, but I play both so there!
Also, CKY and more Rage.
I am really not sure what to think of that..that's a lot of songs.
Melvin,The Cult, Mentors, Testament,Beastie Boys,Bob Marley, some Buckcherry,Deftones,Demon Hunter, The Dillinger Escape Plan with Mike Patton, Mr. Bungle, Defiantly some Don Caballero, Exodus, Hellyeah, Mudvayne,Pantera, Damageplan, Judas Priest (any song from the Painkiller album but mainly Metal Meltdown). More offspring wouldnt hurt, defiantly all the Primus,Rammstein,The Sword,More Tool, Uli jon Roth would be killer but thats more guitar hero,WHITE ZOMBIE,and defiantly more of The Who would be awesome
And LCD Soundsystem & We Are Scientists.
I want more classic rock and 80's rock, dammit. It's great that they've explored Boston pretty fully, what about all the other great bands? Shit, what about some fucking Dire Straits? I want Money for Nothing and Sultans of Swing, damn it.
that being said, all i want is some Djent.
Led Zep
Pink Floyd
Dire Straits
Tool
More Muse
More Foo Fighters
More Pumpkins
More RHCP
More Queens of the Stone Age
More Deep Purple
More Rush
More Metallica
More Linkin Park, but ONLY old stuff that has nostalgia value. None of this new shit.
At the Drive In
DRAGONFORCE! I mean, Through the Fire and Flames... full band... fucking epic. Stupid, but epic.
Deftones
Incubus
A Perfect Circle
Queen
More Radiohead
Lots more RATM
Rise Against
A ton more Rolling Stones, their songs are so good for the games. Not too hard, but always interesting and fun.
More Stone Temple Pilots
Toto!
And finally... the Pokemon theme song! I WANNA BE, THE VERY BEST!
Walk may be a great Pantera song, but it would just be boring to play. We do need some Cowboys from Hell and Revolution is My Name though.
That Amoeba is the best in the chain, and one of the best music stores I've ever had the privilege of shopping at.
