Uh oh, looks like the speculation as to whether or not Hideo Kojima is working on a new Metal Gear can be put to rest. The above image was taken from the infamous countdown page that is currently ticking away toward the reveal of Kojima Productions' next time. As you can see, it's Naked Snake, aka Big Boss. Metal Gear Solid 5 confirmed? A brand new MG series set in the Snake Eater timeline? You decide!
Kojima has been stringing us along for a while now, and this is the first solid evidence of what his next project will be. Fans will either be disappointed or delighted to see that a Metal Gear character is making his return. What do you think? Let us know, and do continue the rudderless speculation that Kojima-San loves spurring so much.

[Update: Oh hi Raiden! A new scan has been found that shows a new look for everyone's favorite cyborg sidekick. Is that an eyepatch? Why yes it is! Some are speculating that this teaser image is not Big Boss, but a new look for Raiden. Either way, there's even more to gossip about now, so check out the attached image]

This is not MGS at all.
It doesn't matter what's on his hat, that's big boss. It's probably going to be a game in between MGS3 and the first Metal Gears, because he obviously looks older, thus whatever happened during those times means different hats, duh
You seem to have missed the fact that it flashes P S 3...

The speculated game, something or other Shadows, was more or less "Previewed" during MGS3.
My guess is that this is a progression image. We're probably going to gradually pullinto Big Boss's brain and see the hero for ... whatever the freak that dang game is called!
But yeah. I'm thinking its not Metal Gear.

Also, my 2 year old daughter saw the pic of Big Boss and said "PIRATE, ARGGHHHH!"
It would be neat if it took place over a long period of time, from what I've been reading it looks like Big Boss went on a variety of adventures so if they could make one game to fill in whatever story there is left, then... You know. Jizz in my pants.

Still, I'm a bit miffed that Konami won't let Kojima work on something new, considering how successful the MGS series is.
