P.S. Dull.
And when she fell in feeble health, ye blessed her- that she died!
How shall the ritual, then, be read?- the requiem how be sung
By you- by yours, the evil eye,- by yours, the slanderous tongue
That did to death the innocence that died, and died so young?"
JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE
People are buying less games right now, so I guess it made sense to them to focus on series that more people purchase and enjoy, like Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell.
I could also be completely wrong and it was a creative decision... maybe a bunch of demos and such were made and nothing felt right, so the project was put on hold.
They used to only hate PC gamers (the Rainbows 6: Vegas, anyone? Or the original BG&E on PC for that matter), but it looks like they're spreading it around to consoles now.
Well duh: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=boiling_blood
You know, to be honest, I was hoping one of the originals fans would respond and counter my points and explain why the game is good (which I just don't see). I played through it because of Chad's absolutely glowing opinion of it (though in retrospect I should have remembered that Chad has no hate within himself, and thus everything receives a glowing opinion), and was left completely disappointed by nearly every aspect of it.
The only part I actually liked was exploring the world for more of those orbs (I only played the main game so I could get the necessary upgrades/unlocks to get to more exploring).
I guess it sucks for the game's fans that they won't get a sequel, but I just don't see what they see.
I just re-played BG&E this month as well, it was better than I remembered and now THIS?!
I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION FOR THIS BULLSHIT!
If you played it just recently I can see why you weren't impressed. I played that game a long time ago and it was pretty awesome at the time. I'm not surprised if the game didn't age well.
Honestly, having owned/played the game when it first came out, I really to this day don't understand the level of fondness people had for this game. By no means was it bad, but it was far from anything epic or even memorable. I never felt an interest to go back and play again to get more unlockables. Frankly, I found the gameplay rather padded.
It was pretty, it had great voice talent, but it was one of the few games In my library I've ever sold back to a used game retailer.
I didn't miss it then, and I certainly don't miss it now.

It seems painfully obvious to me that Ubisoft wouldn't know a good idea if it smacked them in the face with a frozen halibut.
AssCreed sucked. I never finished it because of how much the game bored me. Splinter Cell: Conviction looks cool, but I have no respect for a company that shits out get-rich-quick games for girls and kids so they get bored with my favorite hobby that much faster. BG+E may change minds on that one, but that's only for gamers who happen to know better and don't mind a little actual heart and soul thrown into the mix instead of simple blood and guts/fur and purses.
Anyone who talks shit about this game didn't spend enough time with it. It's like ripping on Okami - you only make yourself look dumber with every harsh word levelled against it.
Just don't go into it expecting the best and you'll probably enjoy it.
If you went in expecting an average adventure game, you came out seeing something that (although not an evolution of the genre in any way) had been given considerable polish and love from the dev team. If you went in expecting a holy grail, then you probably would be disappointed to find a game that is good across the board but never overwhelmingly great.
Would I trade away my copy? No sir. Beyond Good & Evil was a game that I enjoyed and would happily play again.
I LOVED the first BG&E. Awesome game and extremely underrated. I want a sequel really, really bad.
But if they make a sequel, I guarantee you that it would sell like crap just like the first game, which is why it will never be released.
As much as I love the game, I wouldn't want to be in the marketing department that had to sell a game about some dike-looking chick with green lipstick and her uncle pig.
