Betrayer

Betrayer is the debut game from Blackpowder Games

2:00 PM on 08.05.2013

If you make a trailer that combines a striking look and an unusual setting, you're sure to get my attention. This trailer for Betrayer, the debut game from Blackpowder Games, does just that. The studio was started by former Monolith developers, famous for F.E.A.R. and No One Lives Forever

You character has traveled to an English colony in which the world has been drained of all color and corrupted settlers and spectres roam the landscape. Just like The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, Betrayer's setting in history is an under-explored one; the colonization of North America gave rise to new myths and legends, not least the fate of the Roanoke Colony. Betrayer will be appearing on Steam Early Access later in August.

Review: Betrayer

Awash on a beach amidst scattered boxes and waterlogged wood, Betrayer drew me into its chiaroscuro world immediately. Behind me was a blinding, blown out whiteness and an impassable expanse of sea. Ahead of me was intrigue, ...more

Eerie action game Betrayer releasing March 24

Betrayer is a good name for a game, I think. And it looks like a real cool game, too. Maybe some of you can attest to that, as it's been playable through Early Access for a few months. Now it's ready for prime time, done and...more

Betrayer is really confusing, but in a good way

I played Betrayer today, and I have no idea what it's about. Not because of any sort of inattentiveness on my part, but because the ex-Monolith developers don't want me to know what it's about. That's kind of the intrig...more

Ex-Monolith devs' Betrayer joins Steam Early Access

Betrayer caught our eye the other day. It's in development at Blackpowder Games, which is better known as the six-person team made up of former Monolith Productions devs. Perhaps just as importantly, it's the game with that s...more

Review: Resident Evil: Revelations 2: Episode 2

I didn't expect to enjoy the first episode of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 as much as I did. It was nice to see Barry and Claire back in action, and the co-op elements were implemented in a neat asynchronous manner. Not ...more

Resident Evil: Revelations 2's Throwback Map Pack isn't worth your cash

Ever since I got my hands on Resident Evil: Revelations 2, I've been playing Raid Mode on a daily basis. It's addicting, and the more I play it, the more I think it's the best iteration of Mercenaries/Raid yet. This mode is d...more

Forgotten Memories drags Silent Hill 2 alumni back to the world of survival horror

Psychoz Interactive's survival horror Forgotten Memories has been flying under the radar for some time now, but all that seems likely to change with the recent cast announcements of Guy Cihi and Dave Schaufele (Sile...more
