Bethesda says 'thanks' to Fallout 3 fans with LIVE theme photo

Bethesda is acknowledging Xbox 360 Fallout 3 fans this afternoon. Those with an IV drip bag with the word “Wastelands” printed on the side are receiving downloadable vouchers -- via e-mail -- from the developer as a way of thanks for purchasing all five pieces of the post-apocalyptic RPG’s DLC.

The voucher (pictured above) is good for one free download of a premium Fallout 3 theme. We’re still trying to figure out if the premium theme is fresh or a golden oldie, but it really doesn’t matter -- we can’t imagine anyone wanting to download every shred of DLC for a premium theme. Then again, people are purchasing RC cars and masks for their Avatars. Talk about nutty.

[image, A big thanks goes to tipster 'Modern Robot'!]

[Update: The theme -- I believe -- is fresh, but was announced by Microsoft and Bethesda several days ago. Game Informer is reporting that the DLC will be purchasable with a price set at 240 Microsoft Banana Dollars.]

you'd think the biggest F3 fan would already have all the F3 themes. if the free one isn't new then this is kind of silly.

Yeah it's pretty much the exact premium theme already out, only free.

Thanks, Bethesda. Although you're not replacing my Braid theme.

On further inspection, this theme is NOT on the marketplace, so that's pretty exclusive. It's a nice theme, but I've got my Dtoid lagann wallpaper on right now personally.

@TheDarkWayne

It's one of those "redeem code" things they do for unlocking content for free.

You get it by having purchased all the DLC for Fallout 3 currently available.

I've purchased all 5 bits of DLC for Fallout, how do I get the code to download my theme? Do I have to be on some mailing list or something?

They should have just mailed it to the email your XBox Live account is registered to. That's what they did for me, just sent it to my email address.

I got one of the DLCs off of Live and got the rest from the retail discs. How's that work? Probably had to DL them all...damn.

It seems that it defiantly was through downloading them all HeadWoundCity, sorry for your lack of a new animated wallpaper.

I wish we were able to make our own themes like PS3 users however, even if it is kind of cool to have these things, paying for them is rather dumb personally.

I think the reward sounds less lame if you're the kind of extreme fan they're hoping we all are. A unique theme is still pretty cool if you care about themes at all. Assuming it is unique, I'm sure some hardcore fans would think being the only kid on their block with that theme is an okay thank you from Bethesda.

I think this is a pretty valid move, they never sold these DLCs marketing these free prizes, it's just a nice bonus that no one was counting on, i don't think that lameness of free content really can be applied

Dont think i'll be changing the theme anytime soon, love that Wasteland Vista.

Hell I bought the DLCs cos I adore the game, the franchise and want to do my part to ensure there is more Fallout...so this theme is just an added bonus :D

I think I bought a retail code...not the disk, but an actual code(GS had it before the dlc went on the marketplace)....does that DQ me? :-(

I'm going to assume that buying this DLC for GFWL does not get you the free theme? Any confirmation on this?

For spending massive amounts of banana dollars, you get something that's worth about 3 banana dollars.

The math sucks no matter how you slice it.
