If you want to read some early details about this incredible-sounding Wii exclusive, you can simply scroll down a couple of stories to the original article I just posted a few minutes ago. I didn’t even know a trailer existed until good ol’ Hamza found one hidden away on Wipido. Instead of just popping this trailer into the original story, I figured it was significant enough to warrant its own special place on the front page.
After reading about the nostalgia-filled Captain Rainbow, I thought seeing the game in motion would help explain what the heck it is all about. Honestly, though, I am now more confused than ever.
Could this be the mysterious new IP that Nintendo has been hinting at revealing at E3? I certainly hope so. Captain Rainbow looks like it could be something pretty special. Although not much is shown, I am really digging the art style.
What do you think? Do you like the description better than the footage? Do you think Captain Rainbow has the potential to be a Wii classic based on its inclusion of Birdo alone?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, what a yoshi ripoff, I don't care if its from Nintendo but COME ON.
but then again maybe not
BUT I NEED IT.
NOW.
I kind of had the same first reaction, but I think the footage is so early and limited to really tell. :)
I'll have to wait and see more...
That trailer may have fried my brain.
I can't brain today, I have teh dumb.
Yeah, I think I may skip this one. Viewtiful Joe yes, Captain Rainbow...no thanks.
It is Skip; I just found out. :)
Deformed Birdo? N64 graphics? Boring looking gameplay? Empty island with nothing unique? No thanks.
Also, that looked 3D to me. Not 2.5D as previously reported.
Damn....good thing I stopped my personal hype train before it went and crashed against reality.
The disappointment filled me with negativity :-@
can't we get at least one brand new nintendo game that doesn't jerk itself off?
BUT, after saying that: i'm very intrigued.
IT LOOKS AMAZING.
Email NOA and ask to have this localized. IT MUST.
Captain Rainbow seems to be a parody of the original Kamen Rider. Kamen Rider is a transfoming Japanese super hero from the 70's (hence the old-shool vibe of the trailer). He's also a lot like how Viewtiful Joe is also a parody/homage to Kamen Rider.
I want to try this out.
