Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

This is one of those times where I would have punched a baby bear cub in the face if it meant that I could sit in on the meeting discussing this game. I mean come on, look at the trailer! You're driving in a Jeep, doing stunts and killing Velociraptors! You can run over Velociraptors (which look like the new current theory of how Velociraptors looked like ... which is that they looked like Parrots, apparently) or capture the raptors to score points. You also get a chain that attaches to the back of your Jeep used for catching and killing the raptors. You even get combos like a Tony Hawk game!

The game is being made by Flashbang Studios for the PC but other than that, there isn't much more info on the game. There is a home page for Off-Road Velociraptor Safari, but it only contains the trailer. I've contacted Flashbang to get more info on the game so keep an eye out on this post for more info later on. Oh, and I'll ask about the random Triceratops skull that's in the back of the Jeep too.

[Update: Flashbang just got back in touch with me and here are the details so far: The game is a free web game and it will be out later this week. They are going to be launching a brand new site that contains a ton of games. They are aiming to do something like XBLA and WiiWare where they will take some of the more popular games and add more stuff to the game and rerelease the titles. In the mean time, they have another game that is similar to Bust-A-Move that looks really fun.]

[Update 2: Upon furthur investigation, THAT'S A VELOCIRAPTOR DRIVING THE DAMN JEEP! 11/10!]

[Thanks, dyslixec!]

@JJBro1: Those were actually nowhere NEAR what a velociraptor looked like.

According to the most recent research of fossil records, velociraptors were small dinosaurs, about two to three times the size of a chicken. They also are though to have feathers, but that obviously can't be proven.

that trailer blew my mind

and regarding that picture of a velociraptor from the film "jurassic park", i heard that is no longer what scientists believe they looked like; based on some new evidence and research.

I thought it Was Excite Truck 2 it looked so much better, and the Dinosaurs are always welcome, any game where you can break a raptors hip with a ball and chain while driving, is sure to shake up the industry.

i'm with ZeroTolo. There had better be a detailed, epic storyline to go with this awesome gameplay. Otherwise my mind will implode with curiosity. Why is JeepRaptor killing his own kind? Where did he learn to drive a Jeep? Why aren't the other raptors in cars? Who stacked those crates?

My idea is that due to a horrible nuclear incident, a hole was ripped in space/time. This caused our present Earth and the prehistoric one merge. You were once human, but due to being in the same exact spot as a raptor was in the past, your DNA fused with the dino DNA. So now it's up to you to create harmony between the raptors and the humans.

Good lord. All this video has done is make me want a remake of Rocket Jockey using the same engine. An updated version of that game with physics and real 3D acceleration would own me in a very serious way. As long as it had the original redbook audio 'surf guitar' soundtrack featuring Dick Dale, that is.

Velociraptors are okay, too. I suppose. I'd feel better about running them over if they were riding unicycles, though. And wearing funny hats. Or if they replaced them with velocimimes. That would be gratifying.

I sure miss Carmageddon 2 after seeing this video. Where is Carmageddon 4? I loved the damage physics of part 2. It had the best damage engine way before Burnout was released.
