This is one of those times where I would have punched a baby bear cub in the face if it meant that I could sit in on the meeting discussing this game. I mean come on, look at the trailer! You're driving in a Jeep, doing stunts and killing Velociraptors! You can run over Velociraptors (which look like the new current theory of how Velociraptors looked like ... which is that they looked like Parrots, apparently) or capture the raptors to score points. You also get a chain that attaches to the back of your Jeep used for catching and killing the raptors. You even get combos like a Tony Hawk game!
The game is being made by Flashbang Studios for the PC but other than that, there isn't much more info on the game. There is a home page for Off-Road Velociraptor Safari, but it only contains the trailer. I've contacted Flashbang to get more info on the game so keep an eye out on this post for more info later on. Oh, and I'll ask about the random Triceratops skull that's in the back of the Jeep too.
[Update: Flashbang just got back in touch with me and here are the details so far: The game is a free web game and it will be out later this week. They are going to be launching a brand new site that contains a ton of games. They are aiming to do something like XBLA and WiiWare where they will take some of the more popular games and add more stuff to the game and rerelease the titles. In the mean time, they have another game that is similar to Bust-A-Move that looks really fun.]
[Update 2: Upon furthur investigation, THAT'S A VELOCIRAPTOR DRIVING THE DAMN JEEP! 11/10!]
naw, it looks like a bald guy wearing green. i can't decide if it's the coolest concept ever, or the most completely retarded concept ever. i actually felt kind of bad for those raptors being dragged behind the jeep. replace them with puppies and you'd have a sure fire hit.
looks like a $10 bargain bin title right out of the starting gate.
So, a raptor is driving a Jeep. It runs over other raptors. It somehow sticks and chains them to the back of the Jeep where it proceeds to drag those said raptors. Sometimes he uses those dragged raptors to smash other raptors. If that isn't the best idea for a fucking game, I don't know what is.
I agree with Jim. XBLA with online. I will pay these people my $10 for that.
Holy shit! Splume is fantastic! Why aren't these people making games for Live Arcade3? Instead of getting all these fucking side scrolling shooters, we could be getting these fine gems.
I'm hoping there's some sort of intrigue to all this. Like the raptor driving was betrayed by his kin and in one sheer moment of reptilian brilliance, commandeers a Jeep after slaughtering a group of unsuspecting humans and sets out to right the wrongs that were done to him.
Damn... does anyone know a development house looking for fresh ideas? because I can crank out at least six or seven of those a day.
These are the stupid kinds of games we need. I like games to have decent production value, but I've had my fill of "epic" games thanks to the last 10 years.
I'm also laughing at all the WiiWare comments. Don't you guys know that ports of free, crappy Flash games are WAY better than this silly stuff?
