Best Buy stores getting PS Vita demo units photo

Sony's done a good job of getting the Vita into fans' hands with their multi-city social clubs, but a lot of us can't make the drive to the nearest event. I could take a 3 hour trip to Atlanta just to play a Vita or, apparently, I could just wait until my local Best Buy gets a demo unit.

A reader in Connecticut has reported that his store has received a pair of Vita systems - complete with a 4gb memory card and Little Deviants - for their staff to show off. Rather than be relegated to a lowly display stand, the units will be strapped to an employee.

So if you're on the fence, you may want to take a minute to find out if you can get your filthy mitts o the handheld at your nearest store.

My best buy in northern California began setting up a display for vita that appears to places for two demo units to be strapped to an end cap display. That's similar to how they displayed the PSP.

I've been going to the social club here in chicago...

It's nice, they give you snacks and a "menu" of games to play....

I'm getting a vita, but I'm still not sure I'm getting the first edition, especially since sony kinda screwed us by releasing a new 3g bundle for 300 that includes an 8gb memory card, a psn game and a month of 3g... Sony really knows how to alienate their fans..

The worst part about all this is I know like every new console release it's all just blown out of proportion.

What?? There's the First Edition Bundle that comes a week early, has a 4gb memory, Little Deviants, and the 3G Vita, but costs $350? Then, there's the 3G Vita Bundle that has an 8gb memory, a PSN game, a month of free 3G, all for $300??!! The fuck is this??!!

... Ehh no matter. As long as I get my Vita a week earlier than everybody else, I'm fine with the FEB.

@Oishidesu @JQM78 The First edition bundles have been updated to include the free month of 3G and the free PSN game. So for an extra $50, you get the system a week early, a free case (I'm guessing a $15 value), and Little Deviants for free (a $40 value), and a 4 gb card ($20 value).

The only "downside" to the first edition bundle is that it has a 4gb card instead of an 8gb card. It's still an amazing money-saving deal. I'm selling my 4gb card anyway because I want a 16gb one. Amazon has already been posting notices how it's updating the "contents" of the First Edition bundle to include the free month of 3G and the free PSN game.

Yeah, we have them in England in game/Gamestation. I'm not impressed to be honest. They just feel very, erm, smart-phone-y...

Played with the Vita in Game over here. Was OK, but I'm no Unchartd fan so didn't blow me away.

What Infidel said is rue, those sticks do feel cheap. Not a dealbreaker though.

Meh......Sony has not learned from their mistakes of the past with the $ 599 PS3, the non-support of the PSP, their use of proprietary new SONY memory formats with each console, and their ignorance that Exclusive unique titles made to take advantage of a consoles individual strengths are what sell consoles.

This system is going to flop....its already happening in Japan.....it will repeat here in the US.

Yet people still licked the PS2's nuts despite those factors? I don't recall COD ever being exclusive to anything either, nor particularly unique.

@GoonieGooGoo4 the new memory format is bad? A blu-Ray disc can hold 54 gbs, that's bad? I would rather have a new memory format every day if they game the developers more space to store with and make bigger and better games

My Gamestop (the one I frequent because the guys there are awesome) got one and my Roommate played with it. Said they didn't like the load times on the stuff they tried, felt like they were too long. So we'll see, I guess.

They did say it looked awesome and felt great in their hands, though. Said my Psoriatic arthritis probably won't be an issue with this one, like it was with the 3DS before I got a grip. Sooooo I put my preorder down finally and am working out which extras I REALLY need. Only planning on two games for now, Uncharted and either Katamari or Army Corps, but I'm waffling on if I really need a travel case or not right now.

Speaking of, any one in the running for a case go to PDP's website and search Vita and look at their Pull and Go folio. My roommate has the 3DS one and I like it a lot, the holder for the handheld comes out (the pull and go part) and is a whole separate unit, while the rest of it holds games and accessories like a champ. I'm expecting the Vita one to be just as good- and its only $10 more then Sony's travel case with only 4 game slots in it.
