Ben Heck teams up with EDimensional to create the one-handed controller photo

Wish you could still get in your daily quota of masturbation without interrupting your gaming time? No doubt. Modder extraordianaire Ben Heck thinks about your needs, sir. We knew it would only be a matter of time before the gaming industry would notice his insane skills and involve him in an official project, and sure enough, here it is: the Access controller, which you can play one-handed.

Ben teamed up with eDimensional for this project, which features everything you would find on a basic controller and also comes equipped with a wrist rest. Each of the modules can be adjusted for comfort and individual hand sizes. The bottom of the controller is concave, so it can be rested on one's leg or on any normal surface.

The CEO of eDimensional comments:

We could not be more pleased to team up once again with Ben to make his vision of a readily-available single-handed controller a reality. It has become a mission for our company and a truly rewarding experience that we are fortunate to be a part of.

Pretty cool, right? But brace yourself for the price tag of such coolness: it's $129.95 and will only support the PC, PS2 and PS3. No Xbox love? It comes out in August, so if you dig the idea you can start saving your pennies now. I personally am old-fashioned and like both my hands on my controller, but you have to admit it opens up the possibility of a whole new level of multitasking while gaming.

wow nice! this is good for handicapped people with only one arm.

Those who have 2 arms, this will break their fingers on one, then leave them with only one hand to use this more effectively.

I find it funny you only made mention of multitasking and not how this would benefit handicapped gamers. I always wondered how I would express my gamer love if one of my arms suddenly fell off... luckily I thought, many Wii games only require one arm... now, I'll just buy this puppy in case the aforementioned event ever because a reality. So yeah, I 'm sold, haha, I needs to play it safe.

it seems you can moves the shit around to better suit you, but i still don't like the face button and trigger set up. how the hell am i supposed to play a fighting game with one finger. how am i supposed to play a fps with two fingers on one hand just manuevering. i'll be a spiraling humping mess... let alone trying to sprawl my fingers out to shoot. it's a novel idea, but when it comes to actually doing it... people's heads will explode from overload and frustration.

If I ever lose a hand, I'll definitely appreciate this.

Though from the look of it, I won't be giving up my two hand controllers in favor of this.

These things will also come in handy for heavy gamer smokers ;)

Although you could kinda drive with one hand in GTA4 if you pressed RT down on your leg.

As a disabled gamer it's INSANELY difficult to find controllers that work for me. I'm not missing a hand, just my arms are incredibly weak, so I need a controller I can "drape" my hands over. Something flat like a PS2 Madcatz Retrocon.

But there aren't any for the 360 or the PS3. I've had to use a PS2>360 controller adapter that fucking stops working mid-game. So I got excited when I saw this months ago, and even more excited when I saw this.

I'm so buying this. $130 is a small price to pay to enjoy games again.

Thanks for the article, Colette!

I know Ben Heck had been working on one of these for a while, and it's great to see the finished product. Might not sell a whole lot, but for those who needed something like this, it's a good fit for them.

My first reaction to this was that it was the most unnecessary thing ever. I didn't even think about handicapped people. Now I feel like an incredibly huge ass.

i'm curious as to how comfortable it feels, but for those that need it, i'm sure this is a very welcome piece of hardware.

I really need to see this thing in action, but I'm all for anything that can make gaming a little bit more accessbile for people.

Thats awesome Mister Mingo. I've always been terrified of losing my ability to game so this is practically a godsend.

Looks neat and it's great to see that companies are trying to allow more people into the video game scene.

But I've spent too many years crippling my hands into tasty arthritic gaming stumps to cope with something this complex!

Saying that... Get this working on the wii and I can play myself on smash bros! that would be pure awesomeness/odd.

This looks handy either for people lacking function/missing one hand, or for people who like to sip booze while playing.

@brainderailment Probably I think you can pretty much by pass the PS3 requirements as there are already products that by pass the need for a controller and such.

Well, if you're paying too much for a console why not pay too much for a controller?
