Behold: Two indie all-stars enter Super Meat Boy photo

Of course, by enter I don't mean, enter, but since this is a game by Edmund McMillien (creator of C*nt), anything's possible. How these guys will be implemented remains to be seen, but what we do know for sure is that Alien Hominid (from Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers) and Commander Video (from Bit.Trip Beat and the upcoming Bit.Trip Core) will join Tim (from Braid) as playable guest characters in Super Meat Boy; the super WiiWare upgrade of last year's Newgrounds hit Meat Boy. Also announced is the method for unlocking these little bastards. All of Super Meat Boy's guest stars will be unlocked by finding warp zones that lead to secret levels based on their games. These levels will be super hard, and involve play mechanics unlike those found in the rest of the game.

Awesome.

For those keeping score, there are still approximately nine indie guest stars yet to be announced for Super Meat Boy. I can't think of three bigger names in indie gaming than Tim, Hominid and Commander Video. Any guesses as to who's going to show up next?

I saw Alien Hominid on their blog a few weeks ago, it's still pretty cool though. I have no idea who Commander Video is.

oh lawd its smash dojo all over again!

Runner has to be in Meat Boy Brawl. I'm sure someone can write a c-blog with ten reasons why.

So awesome.

I bet the girl from Aquaria's gonna make an appearance- if not her, then maybe a character from Dwarf Fortress?

I second Quote and/or Curly and/or Captain Toaster/Balrog.

Failing that...uh...I don't really play many indie games, unfortunately. *also seconds Runner-man*

My guess: Toku and Enril from Lost Winds...then they could also pass this game off as the promised Lost Winds 2

Not that I'm complaining, but with all these indie posts lately, it's like you're the new Anthony.

With Alien Hominid (Edmund's close ties to newgrounds), Commander Video (Didn't know these guys were very close) and Tim (Edmund did the original character design for Tim) we can make somewhat educated guesses as to some other characters that could be included in the game.

Gish has to be in. Edmund whores him out like no tomorrow. Turner from Lugaru (The Wolfire Team was at Edmund's B-day party) is a possibility as is Nadja from Aquaria (Derek Yu and Edmund are friends and he was at Edmund's b-day). A Gooball from World of Goo(Kyle Gabler was at Edmund's B-day party) might work as well. Something not so likely to happen but still possible is Jill from Mighty Jill Off(Edmund has a link to Auntie Pixelante on his site, and she seems to promote that character/game the most). The hero from Cave Story will probably be in (Given the popularity of Cave Story). A Castle Crashers character has a good chance of being in the game again (was in the original Meatboy). Knytt might have a bit of a chance (Nifflas is linked on Edmund's website as a respected artist). The character from Aether could definately make an appearance as well as the one from Spewer. One of Cactus' many creations could make an appearance (Also listed as a respected artist).

I'm a bit of an Edmund McMillen stalker.

Mega Man.

He did start out as a small team, barely financially backed, built in spare time project.

Of course, Inafune will be all like "Oh? Nobody approached me." and then we'll be all like "QQ what about Mega Man in Brawl" and then Inafune will be all like "Shhhii, if yall paid me, I'd make Mega Man Legends 3 tomorrow" then we'd be like "Here have much lunch money" and Inafune would go like "Get that change outta my face! Here's Mega Man 10, we have a dog boss and Zero. FLEX!" and we'd all go "YEAH, son!"

Also, dudething from Eternity's Child.

Here's hoping either Noitu Love or Xoda Rap make an appearance. Konjak's games need all the love they can get.

Long shot: Lemeza Kosugi from La-Mulana.

Loving the Commander Video's homage to da Vinci's The Vitruvian Man.
It seems to be a popular homage art piece lately.

Indie games seem to be getting better nowerdays. Before saying it's indie meant excuse the crappy gameplay, controls and level design.

@ Maxxthepenguin

The sign painter would be awesome for this

Spewer will probably be one and N would be great, but this game is kind of a rip off of N so I'm not sure what Metanet Software thinks of it.
