For your enjoyment, the Destructoid offices present a behind-the-scenes clip from Traveller's Tales, discussing Transformers: The Game. Now, I'm disgusted by the movie, what with their decision not to cast Frank Welker as Megatron in anything but this game, but I must admit that the footage shown above really shows some potential. You'll notice that there are some clear shots of actual transformations, something which has been lacking in any trailers thus far. They look very fluid and rather sexy indeed, I have to admit.
If they get the sense of clunky, robotic destruction just right, this could be at least mildly pleasing. At the very least, the robots look all pretty. So shiny, so very shiny.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
As far as the game goes, i'm impressed at the moment.
I hope it's not restricted to boxed in levels though and has a sand box feel to it like Spiderman 2 had.
I can deal with Hugo Weaving doing Megatron so long as no one else gets mucked about with.
And, if this movie sucks balls which, lets be fair, could happen (it is Micheal Bay after all) there's always the old 80's film to rewatch.
So if we ignore the fact that Hugo Weaving is doing Megatron's voice, Bumblebee isn't a VW Beetle anymore and has a face like the tank bug out of Starship Troopers and that Optimus Prime may or may not have lips, do we agree that it *could* be a half decent movie?
Optimus Prime DOES have lips during the movie, maybe not the entire film but he does.
Don't forget I think there is a part in the film that Optimus Prime (at least just him) follows Spike around like a little lost puppy....
I am just hoping for a big action/popcorn movie.
He'd better keep that faceplate thing down for a majority of the time then.
Tbh though, a big action/popcorn movie was all we expect from Transformers Micheal Bay style.
Things will go boom and a small part of our childhoods will die.
But i'm determined to like this film.
Though i was the same with Spiderman 3 and....well....don't get me started. :P
He had no interest before, but now it's one of his most anticipated movies of the summer. That's enough to pique my interest.
But the game's probably gonna be balls.
What about yoru friend, he like old transformers? what movies does he like? I mean some people who will like Transformers probably liked Spiderman 3 and X-Men 3 and those 2 were abominations!
Also, @ Richard Blocker - I couldn't agree more.
They were so good with getting mutant powers right and stories just about right in the first and then threw it all out in the 2nd one...let's make the NON mutant juggernaunt a mutant, lets make beasts power his blue fur instead of his strength and agility.
Don't even get me started on how Singer hated and cursed Cyclops' character from movie one!
Your friend, A/S/L? Does he like Poniez? Does he have his own harbl? Would they be willing to trade eyes so I can see what he saw?
I'm sorry, Blindside, that reply you to SLife had just struck me in a really weird way.
Pt. 3's in any film trilogy are always a let down compared to the originals, unless your name is Return of the King.
Getting back to Transformers: "You got the touch! You got the POWER!"

I don't know why everyone has got their panties in a twist over Michael Bay directing it. You act like Transformers has ever been about anything more than giant robots fighting, explosions, and selling toys.
I'm extremely cautiously optimistic about this game. Everything I've seen looks pretty good but you never know until you play it. It could still blow hard.
Comic and film versions.
X-Men 1 was brilliant. I had it just right.
X-Men 2 was basically the Wolverine show featuring the X-Men.
X-Men 3 was brilliant. It got rid of all the phony philosophical stuff from the first two and made it feel more like the comics.
My only problem with 3 was that the events of the film were basically Deus Ex Machina'd by the last scene and the post credit clip.
That and the Rogue, Shadowcat, Iceman triangle went nowhere.
And Psylocke wasn't hot enough or british enough for my liking.
Though Beast did show off his agility and strength. And he said "oh my stars and garters".
Win.
But yeah, i'm still hopeful for this movie and its game tie-in.
If Shia LeBouf says the film is 'sick' one more time, i'll curb stomp him. Srsly.
I'm trying to keep my expectations low, but that scene (and new footage) was soooo good.
Going to have some spectacular action scenes.
Not sure about the story and the "outcast boy finds himself, becomes hero, gets the girl" stuff, but the early screenings/reviews from some nerd sites have been really good.
Everything else was a mess. Who they killed, how they killed them, who they introduced, what they did, the flow of the last 40 minutes, just trainwreck.
but oh yeah, Transformers. I really want this to be a fun game, and I think it'll do just that and be fun. Just like the movie. I don't need epic gaming in my movie tie-in games, so long as everything works like it should.
I guess I shoulda gone more into that...
The guy never watched Transformers as a kid. Has no interest in the series at all. Hated X3. Ranted for 2 solid hours after Spiderman 3.
The guy's got good taste, and I trust him on this one.
Tell that to the Spiderman 3 game.
Shocking.
Spider-Man 3 was a strong enough movie despite Venom being horribly under used. Even the dance scenes and higher level of comedy made sense within the context of the fact that the comic books themselves always seemed to have a good level of comedic relief amidst serious drama and action.
Oh, and Transformers looks sick for a movie based on a cartoon based on a toy line. You can't take it too seriously.
The "little lost puppy" thing I believe you're thinking of is Bumblebee following Spike around, and there's a reason. Bumblebee is an advance scout, and the Autobots need Spike. The reason he communicates in radio transmissions is because Megatron ripped the voice box right out of his throat in an earlier battle. It sounds goofy, but actually worked well in the script. And like I've said before, VW won't sign off on a movie with war elements and the entire reason Spike is getting a car is to impress a girl. Kinda hard with a Bug. It's 2007. :)
And Cyclops has ALWAYS been lame. Possibly one of the most boring and simpering characters in comics, leader of the X-Men or not.
Anyway, I agree with everyone that I'd much rather have Welker in the movie over Weaving. Luckily Megatron is only active in the last 20 minutes of the movie, and has just a handful of lines.
I think people are just upset because the movie didn't do what they expected it to do. But I think unexpected is probably the best thing to do for a comic book sequel.
Transformers will be an explodey, trite, robot death extravaganza, and it will be awesome. Expecting anything less is just silly.
