Become cephalopod of the year in Octodad
This was just too precious not to share. Octodad is a student-made (DePaul University) Independent Games Festival entry, it's free to download for PC, and it is quite possibly the weirdest game I have played this year on both a conceptual and mechanical level. This excellent trailer really does say it all, so I'd advise you to watch it. The best part is, the person playing Octodad in that footage appears to be unskilled ... until you download the game and realize, "My God, that is the best player in the universe." It wasn't until today that I could appreciate how truly difficult it would be to wear a suit and perform fatherly duties as an octopus without looking conspicuous. In that regard, Octodad is the perfect simulation game. Freeware Game Pick: Octodad (DePaul University Student Team) [IndieGames] Did you know? Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)Yeah this is pretty nifty stuff. I've only had a chance to play the tutorial so far. I'm usually pretty wary of games that have really "Hey, learn to move in a world with a really awkward control scheme," but the concept is going to give me more than enough patience to see more of this. YO, I JUST PATRIARCH'D THE SHIT OUTTA THOSE HOMOSAPIENS! I'm really looking forward to any more domestic adventures these folks crank out; free or not.
P.S. Was I the only one who got a little wary whilst adding that banana to the mannequin meant to distract homemollusk's wife on their anniversary? He's supposed to fool his family? You'd think the wife/mother would've figured it out by now. Also, scary thoughts about that. :\ 7:30 PM on 05.23.2013 Fight for free this weekend in Chivalry: Medieval WarfareThis weekend until 2:00PM Eastern on Sunday you can play an awesome first-person medieval battle game Chivalry: Medieval Warfare for free.
