Bayonetta PS3 cheaper than Bayonetta Xbox 360 photo

This weekend we talked about how the PS3 version of Bayonetta was selling better in Japan, even though it's a slapdash port of the Xbox 360 version. Now we have an even more interesting comparison between the two games for you, this time concerning the North American versions of the game. According to GameStop, the PS3 version will be cheaper than the 360 one.

GameStop lists Bayonetta as $54.99 on the PS3, while the Xbox 360 version costs $59.99. If this price sticks, it could only be a response to fears that the ported version of the game is significantly inferior. This also means that Sega may actually be acknowledging this inferiority as truth. Why else would you not want to charge the same amount of money on both platforms?

Yet another chapter in the PS3 Bayonetta saga.

The day that when graphics alone make a game "inferior" is a sad day. The content is 100% the same, correct?

I just want to hand over my cash and see Bayonetta's tits and ass already. Hurry up January!

All things being equal, except one has worse graphics? Yeah, one would be the inferior one. Weird, though, they don't have to discount the PS3 version. The majority of people don't have both consoles so it's not like its really a decision.

If they're 100% the same excepting their graphics, then by definition one is inferior.

@Carl
If you really value graphics that much. From playing both demos, I noticed nothing that detracted enough from my gameplay experience to make a stink.

I think Magnalon is just saying that it's really not that huge of a difference. Which, as far as I know, is true.

I have not played the demo, but wasn't the problem that the ps3 version had bad frame rate problems? That is what would concern me. I would not care if the ps3 version had slightly worse graphics.

Now if only SNK had taken that approach to KoF XII then maybe more than 5 people would have bought that craptastic game.

I'm just saying that "inferior" is used correctly.

The difference is minimal.

@Carl Sagan: Sure it is. Except for the average 20 less frames on the ps3 version at any given time.

As far as I was aware, the problems witht he PS3 version also extended to frame rate issues, which can be a game-breaking (see Warriors Orochi 2)

Even if the difference was just slightly gimped graphics, that can stil be a deal breaker and is a reasonable cause for this price difference.
Let's say you already had both consoles and the game cost the same on both - you'd get the 360 version, because that looks and runs nicer, there would be no reason to get the PS3 version. But now with the price difference, you've got to decide what's worth more to you, prettier visuals or a fiver. Bayonetta is a very visual game so I won't be surprised if the price difference is ignored and the 360 version still sells better in the West.

And if you don't have both consoles then there's nothing to debate.

I think this is an acknowlegement of the fact that a number of 360 owners, like myself, bought PS3 slims and now have a choice.

Although even if the situation was reversed I will likely never buy cross platform games on the PS3 because of PSN. Till they find a way to make it ..well NOT suck then ..yeah.

That and of course the fact that there are TONS more peeps playin on xbl than on psn.

Granted Bayonetta is not a mulitplayer game but in this case for leaderboards and achievements alone, xbl still is the winner here.

If the graphics are worse on one version, then yes, that makes it inferior, especially when the inferiority takes the form of framerate issues and stuttering. Also, the game isn't designed with the PS3 controller in mind. It feels much more awkward on the PS3.

I didn't notice the frame rate issues in the demo, but I believe you. That could be an issue late-game when the action gets more hectic.

Jim didn't say the 360 controller was better but that controls felt awkward on the PS3. Which makes some sense since the PS3 version is a port and the game was designed originally for 360.

If I owned both consoles and visuals were slightly better on one console versus the other I'll go with the better graphics as long as the price difference isn't that significant. It would take the game costing $30 on PS3 and the 360 price remaining the same for me to reconsider.

What most people are neglecting to mention is that good graphics mean nothing unless you have a T.V. that can support it. Also how much of a graphics difference could there possibly be? Not gunna get it still, but if I were on the fence, the PS3 version being cheaper would put me off

The TV argument makes sense when you're talking about things like the PS3 properly supporting 1080p and os on, but this isn't one of those issues. Bayonetta has, reportedly, large frame rate issues on the PS3 and the colours and effects overall are more muted. Any screen will show up those differences, especially the frame rate problems.

lower price doesn't necessary means its worse. if its cheaper to produce it on a blu-ray you can charge a lower price and still earn more per unit sold. lowering the price also tends to increase the amount of sales. basic economics.

in Canada all Sony 1st party games cost $59.99 CAN. All other games are at a $69.99 standard. Some games, like Tekken 6 are priced at $59.99 Canadian. No doubt that MW2 will be at the $70 standard. It's Platinum games trying to make sell more of the version that was crapped on the most. Don'y hold your breath for the PC version of MW2 being back to $50.

oh well. what can you do? maybe the devs have heard by now developing on the ps3 first then porting to the 360 won't have such fuct up problems.

i been playing orange box on my ps3 and yes, it has a couple framerate issues but does not retract from the experience at all. if that was true then everytime i pause a game to take a piss/shit it would completely ruin the experience. oh no, Lord forbid if i take my attention else where for a minute, the game is ruined! i'll have to restart now to get the full experience! sarcasm.

Despite diffferences between video games, I believe price is the biggest influence for the average gamer. I have a feeling that only the rare collector or gamer snob will care about the port issue and be willing to spend the extra $5.

Bayonetta cheaper on PS3...yeah that's what I've...wha--wait?? OH you mean cheaper as in "costs less"??

Well yeah...duhhhh, if the game is nearly as inferior on PS3 as it's been made out to be then it should be $10 to $20 less.

Honestly...Devil May Cry sucked, IMO...and this game doesn't really look to do much more than DMC did...well, other than have show some beehive wearing weirdo half naked.

Sorry dude...I'm not a virgin. In fact, up until my decision to enter into a monogamous relationship with the woman who today is my wife, I'd NEVER had a problem pulling hotties down for a night or two.

Not a virgin, not a fan of Devil May Cry = No Bayonetta purchase for me. Not unless it's half price for PS3. Or if it has some good hardcore action. Like...ACTUAL HARDCORE ACTION though.

None of this "hair obscuring" crap. For me, there's porn and there's garbage. If she's just naked, 3/4 naked, 1/2 naked and not doing anything...it's worthless.

I wanna see that broad getting pounded by eighteen in--you get the point.

Most of Jim's humor just isn't that funny. And he often sounds like a fanboy, just to get a reaction. This whole "it feels better on the 360 controller" thing is soooo stupid, and no doubt just another way for him to get attention.
