Some early test footage of Platinum Games' balls-to-the-wall action title Bayonetta has made its way to the Internet, and it has to be said that even as a prototype video, it looks quite sexy indeed. The footage shows titular hero Bayonetta beating up on some generic karate dudes, and gives you a good idea of how the combat will flow. I also said "titular" without any trace of irony.
Bayonetta is definitely among the sexiest releases this year and should hopefully provide a hardcore and entertaining action experience that will at least be better than Ninja Blade. It's been a long time coming and I'm really itching to get my hands on the blood thing, so hopefully we can make that happen at E3 and let you know how it's coming along.

Meet the rest of the team
As a prototype for what they're steering the game toward, I have to say, this action is much more melee-oriented than I was thinking it would be! The mechanics seem to be tight with precise controls; the moves and effects seem to be pretty inventive!
This definitely made me more excited for the release of this game!
I'm glad it seems like its going more towards the DMC direction. I like it when I blame myself when I get attacked instead of assuming its one of those games where you're guaranteed to get hit when going through a level.
I am aware it's a prototype, regardless, I couldn't help but chuckle at all of the stilted movements. But the action does seem good, I'm anxious to see how the final product will look.
As long as Platinum Games can throw in some challenge, then this will definitely be an awesome game. Looks like a 3D Castle Crashers, except, you know, it's Bayonetta (In the sense that it looks like non-stop action).

Do want this game.

This seems more inline with DMC's mechanics than NG's, and even though I love both series, I'm glad for this style decision!
I wonder why player characters in more games don't have glasses. Though every time I look at her, I keep thinking "hawt librarian" for some reason.
also LOL @ the "SHINKU HADOUKEN!" fireball.
@Doomsday, I think it's because of the hair.
