Granted i got the gears of war 3 season pass but that was a fair and straightforward deal.

If I hadn't already bought the first DLC, and if I was still playing the game I'd happily buy the rest of the DLC in this one shot fee.
As for EA being voted the worst company in America. It is absolutely a bad company but I would vote for Bank of America and any number of other companies over EA anyday. I mean even from an entertainment standpoint there are far more ruthless companies in Hollywood.
for the all the dlc, considering its a one time purchase it's a great deal.
the problem here is the fact that the dlc itself is a bad deal as it is very much overpriced.
you used to get a great expansion for this amount of money,
now the companies think you should be happy they even provide you content without you having to worship them.
they probably even think we should consider it a blessing they're not charging double.
to get back to my original point, it's obvious.
While they won't release numbers, Activision is supposedly seeing poor DLC sales for Modern Warfare 3, enough that they've already put DLC on sale. (Now, to be fair, Modern Warfare 3 has other problems. Again, while Activision won't release detailed player numbers, players have seen the in-game player counts have dropped faster than has happened with previous titles, and that *current* player counts can run even with or even drop below the number of people currently playing Black Ops. So it could just be that as many people aren't sticking around to buy DLC at all, not that Activision thought Elite would magically increase sales.)
Infinity Ward has also sometimes used their obligation to supply content for Elite as an excuse for delays in other MW3 work. (Which is a bit of a "pick and choose" excuse, as they never seemed to care about failing to meet their *other* Elite obligations. Meeting Elite's obligations only seems to come up when looking for a reason to explain why it takes them months to implement basic fixes, and still haven't fixed problems that are now eight months old.)
Doubtful
If they are like any company they likely figured what they would sell the DLC for, then inflated that price so the premium "discount(s)" bring you right back to what would have been full price anyhow.
Tho it really seems that EAs goal is simply to push games as a service not a commodity. Which works for MMOs ..... but they are applying it to everything under the sun.
Really not sure if I should be more angry with EA for pulling these shenanigans or the 800k who bought into it probably cursing EA the whole time they were happily filling in their CC info.
I dunno what it is! but I'm outraged!
Still not sure if I'm going to buy it though.
The sheer amount of people buying into this really shocks me.
The maps are also extremely overpriced to start with imo. I don't know where companies get off thinking you'll pay 15 bucks for 2 or 3 maps, regardless of how much you play.
let's put some perspective on it. Dawnguard is 20 dollars, these map packs are 15. Dawnguard clearly has more effort and time put into it regardless of how you feel about the Elder Scrolls series and Bethesda. Expanding upon an already massive game, vs. reusing assets and slapping a few guns in for 15 dollars.
I'm leaning more towards map packs should never have gotten to 15 dollars...ever.
Huge sales does not a success make. In fact, putting huge sales above everything else is what got us to this point to begin with.
