A new distraction -- or should I say devourer of time? -- has appeared for Battlefield fans who aren't still actively playing Bad Company 2 or prior games by DICE. It's Battlefield Play4Free, which has shifted into open-beta mode.
I haven't actually gotten a chance to try it out for myself yet, but supposedly it's a little bit of Bad Company 2 meshed with maps from Battlefield 2. That sounds delightful. More aligned with my tastes than Battlefield Heroes was, certainly.
Play4Free is indeed a free game, assuming you can access the Internet, which you are doing right now. So jump on it, and be sure to leave some of the coffee shop's bandwidth for the other customers.
