And the hits just keep on rollin' in. For the above video to make much sense, it's recommended that you first watch this public service announcement (backup video here) from Infinity Ward and Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels. Even if you have seen it before, it's worth a rewatch anyway.
Even though random grenade spam really isn't much of an issue in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, DICE figured "oh, what the hell!" and created a PSA dedicated to the problem. Better yet, the studio was also able to nab some outside help: New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia.
As per tradition, I have only the following to say in response to this back-and-forth between the two companies: FACE!
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Meet the rest of the team
My xbox is being shipped back to me from the repair center and you better believe this game is the first one I'm gonna play when it comes home. Can't fucking wait!
All they needed to do was work in a jab regarding the completely dickish firing of valued employees, and they would have thoroughly smashed the nuts of certain developers behind competing games of their particular genre.
And in the forecast for the upcoming weeks, we have a cold front pushing forward a SHITSTORM from the northwest, with an OH NO U DI~INT tropical depression following and a 'O YES THEY DID!' heat wave from the south.
Lovely how he doesn't name anything in this video:
- "Star pitcher for a well known baseball team based in the New York metropolitan area"
-"I hate to break it to you man, but in BFBC2 grenade spamming isn't gonna prove quite as effective a one might find in competing games in this particular genre."
Ha ha, I love the combination of the deadpan voice and the unnamed baseball team and "competing games in this particular genre." And then they throw in Sweetwater, which just makes everything even better.
Props to DICE for sticking it to Activision and IW.
i guess i still haven't gotten why dice is so adamant about competing with mw2. why would they try to sell people something they've already bought?
i mean if i wanted to play mw2 id play mw2. i didn't buy bfbc2 to "replace" mw2, i bought it because i assumed it would be a better game. did anyone else experience the let down i got when i realized they were trying too hard to be something someone else was? ...and that they couldn't do that right even?
im not into mw2 but this rivalry thing kinda ruined bfbc2 for me.
I got the game yesterday and I have to say overall I much prefer bad company. The single player campaign doesn't have the polish of MW but I was still regularly wowed by the scenes in game, that intro mission is off the fucking hook.
The multiplayer demo I didn't really care for, but my 3-4hrs play yesterday left me wanting more.
The intensity of the battle is pretty spectacular and I genuinely haven't felt this much excitement playing a war fps since Wolfenstien Enemy Territory. For me personally it beats the hell out of the other current shooters because of the fast pace of it and how the game mechanics rewards teamwork.
The reason this one works so much better is in addition to openly mocking MW2's version, it takss the joke twice as far, shows how irrelevant grenade spam is in the game, injects the personality of Sweetwater into it, and even has a better acronym that not only builds on its competitor's, but offers a term any FPS gamer can get behind:
It's not funny HaHa, but it is funny clever. And FRAGS is a far more apt backronym than the allegedly homophobic one IW came up with (I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on whether or not they were specifically gaybashing on that one).
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Plus, my dude can only carry one without a perk, and what...2 with a perk? FFFUUUUU!
I wish I had 2 or 3 to begin with, but I'm glad I don't, because then I don't have to worry about grenades up my ass all over!

I give this video an awesome out of 10.
