There IS a pretty sensible difference though. Quite sensible really. Enough to make consider buying NFS: The Run through STEAM and just plug my 360 controller on it.
It's say that's a conservative estimate for the kind of computers they're likely running Battlefield 3 on. I'm not saying it's the PC you or I have.
PC GPU = $300
"Some" console gamers really dropped the ball here if they thought it would be the same but I will be buying this for the PS3 and when I do upgrade my PC (Diablo III), I will buy it again for the eye candy.
still looks good though.
"It's say that's a conservative estimate for the kind of computers they're likely running Battlefield 3 on."
You can say that, I guess. But honestly $2000 would be beyond overkill to run this game at max. Throwing out such high (and seemingly random) numbers just gives people the wrong idea and makes them go back to hiding behind their consoles. You won't be needing SSD's or SLI or any of that stuff.
"aint shellin out $2,000 on a pc for 1 game.."
See? See what I mean? This guy now is going to be using the $2000 price tag for absolutely no reason. I'm going to start saying the 3DS is $1000.
PC version looks way better, not that this looks bad. The tank portion of the E3 PC demo almost looks real. I'm hoping to see a console reveal from MS and Sony next E3, PC's just leaving them in its dust.

so much whining, its the way things are, DICE is just stating the obvious, they can only do so much with 5 year old hardware, what else do you expect them to do?
"God damn it. Everything gets twisted into anti-PC propaganda.
I'll change it."
hahaha. I don't think it was anti-PC propaganda.. I just think people are too ignorant not to have the correct info. I've been here long enough to know you're not a pc hater (although it took me a bit to come to that conclusion).
Mighty gaming PC, whats that? A $600 Best Buy special? I need a doller range to go by...lol
I would have left the price up there as DICE was showing all the games on $2,500+ Alien Ware computers not "build it your self budget savers".
It still looks better than most console FPS games.
Soooo true! <3 I was just saying this to some friends the other day!
Thank you for validating me! lol.
The game looks great on PS3.Im sure the console crowd will be pleased in the end with it. I spent $1000 on my new PC based on the specs of the computer running the demo of the game at PAX. The guy said it was running with 16 gb of ram and a 580. Apparently the demo PC had 2 580s in it but one was turned off. He said the game didnt need 2. That was a relief to my wallet. :P i7 processor too. So I built it to those specs.
People constantly say that there is barely any difference between pc games on a mid-range machine vs a ps3/360, and man they are so wrong.
However I kinda understand people's frustration. Dice constantly showed their game off promoting how great the graphics are. While playing the game with a controller mind you. All the while every press person has been playing the pc version. They don't exactly go out of their way to let you know everything we've seen so far has been a pc version. It all stinks of false advertisement. I can see why people are pissed off.
Also want to add, that I hate how developers constantly do this.
They show off their new major game on the 360. Wowing people with the graphics, all the while they're actually playing on the pc while using a 360 controller to play it. Not only that they are using 2000-3000 gaming pcs to run it. Seriously thats false advertisement and I hate that shit too.
@Manwithnoname
You do not need a $2000 computer to run battlefield 3. If you spent $2000 (lets ignrore the monitor shall we) on a computer, you either A)are a hardcore pc builder that likes the best shit out there or B)an idiot who got suckered by your hardcore pc building friend
Aside from the monitor I have never spent more than 1000 bucks on a complete pc overhaul. But thats the magic of pc building. Once you have a basic stuff you don't need to replace everything.
Over the last 5 years i've only replaced my graphics card twice. Each card not costing me more than $250. I'm still using the processor and ram (intel quad core 2.6hz and 4gb ddr2 ram) that i bought 5 years ago.
I'm late to the party but I just started playing assassin's creed 2 and brotherhood and its nice to play those game at native resolution of 1920x1080 with smooth detail (none of that nasty aliasing crap that plagues the console versions). Did I mention silky smooth 60fps.
I'm not saying everyone should be playing their games on the pc, i'm just trying to explain that it isn't as super expensive people make it out to be. I also wanted to make the point that console game have alot of room for improvement on the visual fidelity side.
Time for new consoles!!!!
*side note: I don't expect new msoft and sony consoles till 2014*
Yeah, but just because that's what DICE was using, doesn't mean that is the setup required to run the game decently. You can get a lot out of a "Build it yourself budget saver" if you know how to shop right.
I don't think anyone took your article as anti-pc gaming.
They are responding to commentors who think pc gaming is all about alienware pcs that cost 3000 dollars.
I don't understand why people like the Crysis series' THAT much, because all I ever hear is that they are the best looking games ever, which I don't beloeve.
Pre-alpha is before testing has even begun, the game often is missing key components such as sound, voice, hud elements, some animation, and many features are incomplete or not even designed yet.
Hell, pre-alpha isn't even deemed a "playable build" that is the alpha milestone.
one other thing to remember pc games are 10$/€ cheaper than the console counterparts so if you buy a lot of games the pc isn't that expensive anymore especially compared to a xbox360 with xbox live.
No one really builds a $600 pc for ONE game.
Most people have goddamn desktop. If that desktop is no older than 5 years, all you need to do is add 200 dollar graphics card and you are good to go.
I have no doubt that he really love video games. I like him because he's actually genuine about this. But boy does he know very little about the hobby.
He's like that little brother/cousin who is like super excited about video games and is constantly bothering you about newest game he heard his classmates are talking about. He acts like he knows everything about games, but he's so young and new to the scene that he just sounds like a total tool. What makes it worst though is that they're little kids, Jimmy Fallon is goddamn adult.
