Its called "content".
And you are taking it away from the game, which turns it into "bullshit".
I fail to see any issues with this.
I hate this, "but I deserve everything and I want it now!" mentality everyone has these days.
Fuck this shit. I'm nowhere near enough of a rabid fan to buy into this bullshit.
"So if I preorder the Limited Edition version, which is the same price as every other normal Xbox 360/PS3 game ($59.99 U.S dollars) I get free content? I fail to see any issues with this."
I think the issue is that you have to pre-order the game at all. It just sucks for late adopters, or any poor fool who gets it as a Christmas present.
Got to be one of the dumbest moves in preorder history.
The limited edition is the day 1 copy that they release, you will be able to walk in and pick up a copy off the shelf that had the "free map" inside. Just like what Bad Company 2 did.
I pre-ordered last week from Wal-mart and I can not fucking wait.
People just look for reasons to bitch, even when this (presumably) won't cost you any additional money. If you can't pay off a 60 dollar game between now and the end of the year, you probably need a new job.
And splitting the player base? That's like saying Killzone 3 split it's base by including a map pack with the collectors edition, yet the reality is only a handful of people bothered with those maps for more than a month anyway. I can still easily find COD matches without any of the map packs, and I can't imagine Battlefield would be any different.
Oh, but it's day one DLC and clearly those maps pulled and reworked from the prequel were a vital part of the BF3 experience and you're all missing out on so much.
In a single player game like DA2 you're not building an online community. What this means for BF3 players is that right off the bat that community will be split, with preorder customers having access to maps that the rest of the players won't have. If you typically play online with friends or a clan, etc, unless you all preorder you'll have maps that won't be able to all play together on.
This type of move is just stupid. Map packs make sense when you already have a dedicated community, but at launch you want everybody on the same playing field (literally). You want as big a group of players that can all get in on the action as possible.
It's not about cost. It's about building a cohesive community.
I'm just never a big fan of pre-order "bonuses" in general.
I never bought a pack for any of the COD, so when I played with my friends we just played on the older maps. Still got to play though.
Seriously, none of the content in the pack is new.
I understand the whole 'Wtf dlc before the game is released argument' but the thing is, these 3 maps are from Battlefield 2.
You're really getting 3 old re-skinned maps for free when you preorder the game.
Geezus.
Still, I think it's pretty fucked up to announce DLC when the game isn't completed/released. If don't pre-order, I will have to pay for this crap. What is it going to be? 59$ for the game, then another 10$ish for DLC? Fucking'a...
I don't have a problem with DLC in general, I think it's great. Annoucing DLC when the game isn't out yet? That's fucking retarded. We're talking about 3 additional maps that are already on the "disk" when you buy the game. If you don't pre-order, you will have to buy those map.
This is just fucking WRONG. Were not talking about crappy DLC/pre-order bonus here, where you could get additional skin for your gun (or any other useless stuff) We are talking about 3/4 maps...this wrong on so many level..
Gamming industry is getting so sad nowday...
Because if BF2 is any indication, Karkand is *all* people are going to be playing in this damn game.
Who wants to take a bet that the game is going to show up on Steam for pre-order one day after the preorder "deadline" just like the shit EA pulled with DA2?
I pretty much said the same thing, people just like to freak out over nothing. If they are buying the game at some point after launch, I am willing to bet they will still get the maps as they will be inside the case and not a coupon from the retailer...just like ALL these games did:
Bad Company
Dragon Age
Dragon Age 2
Bulletstorm
They all did pretty much the same thing as the Regular Edition = Limited Edition. Just like your "made with real juice" has 5% real juice in it......Marketing!
It has nothing to do with money. Even if it did, just because one can afford it doesn't mean one should plop down 60 bucks right now for a game that isn't even out yet. What if the game flops? You won't know because you will have bought the game before the review comes out. What if it doesn't flop critically (since you probably doubt a BF game could suck, but that's a debate for another time), but you doesn't like it personally? For most games, sure, pre-order incentive probably isn't a big deal. However, for this specific game, either you swallow that risk and buy it now, or you risk missing out on one of the best (and THE most popular) map from BF2.
Christ, sure, people piss without thinking, but you're pissing and moaning even more about people who have the right to complain just because you yourself are blind to any issue that couldn't ever pertain to you. In other words, you're a selfish prick. Sympathy goes a long way, and might even cure your bitching about "bitching."
I myself don't mind since I can and do play Karkand in BF2, and I'm not too hyped up about BF3 anyways. Not to mention the Limited Edition is probably the only one that will exist for PCs.
And as far as I'm aware, the 'Back to Karkand" expansion pack contains stuff for the BF2 maps its bringing over only, so its more of a pre-order incentive for veterans of the franchise than to those who came over say, via the Bad Company games or BFP4F.
So getting the chance to play it sooner (or exclusively) matters immensely towards me preordering it. I sure as fuck will pre-order that bitch if they're giving me Karkand.
