Battlefield 3 Origin pre-order nabs you early beta access photo

EA's Origin service -- and let's not kid ourselves here -- has been getting a lot of harsh criticism ever since its launch several months ago. Hell, even Serious Sam 3: BFE's publishers have openly mocked the service. EA has been trying to get more gamers interested in Origin with sales that has seen the likes of Bad Company 2 & Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box being sold for just $5 each.

Now they're hoping that Origin's pre-order bonus for Battlefield 3 will bring fans en masse. By pre-ordering from the online distribution service, you will get early access to the Battlefield 3 open beta (set to hit in September) as well as the ability to pre-load the game. Additionally, you will also get the Physical Warfare pack which contains an exclusive set of weapons.

Is this enough to get you to buy Battlefield 3 from Origin?

I heard the Open Beta access was US only. Sucks if it is.

I guess if you have to have BF3 you might as well buy the version that gets you the beta though, so it's a smart move by EA to get people on Origin. Having said that, it still would have worked if they had done beta exclusive to Origin and normal release on Steam. That's a competitive incentive without making most PC gamers hate you.

Nah.

Still buying on 360, if buying at all. I might not buy it now because I don't want to support this Online Pass bullshit.

I hate EA. I hate Activision. Fuck them both.

@Manthai

If you have to have BF3, Origin is the most expensive way to do it. Retailers of physical copies still have it cheaper.

@Bobthecatlol - If that's really the case, that would be really sad.

Origin on its own is not really foreign friendly yet (atleast from my side)

Max-
Origin isn't that bad functionally to be fair, just I'd rather use Steam - it's better, it's cheaper (LOLOriginPricesIAmNotPaying£60ForaFuckingVirtualRobotDogAsAnExtraYouCuntbags!), it's got more games, better social networking functions, it's got Counter-Strike and Half-life 2, it's ultimately 10 times the better service than what Origin can ever offer and its as simple as that. Sure they're tieing BF3's Battlelog to the Origin service (though seriously, starting BF3 via a web browser EA? Why the fuck can't I have a proper menu like other games have?!)

But yeah, dare I say it but this may just be a pre-order from GAME for me...fuck did I just actually say that?

US only access is something origin seems to be doing quite a lot of already and another reason why it can fuck right off. Later EA.

BF3 on Amazon: £29.91

And EA has already killed the sense of balance in this game, did they learn nothing from BC2?

The only reason I like beats is as a demo for a game, if I recorder I have already decided to buy it so don't need a demo.

@Mezza345

Weapons in a multiplayer game shouldn't be a DLC pack to begin with. Putting "exclusive" weapons into a competitive environment is just asking for trouble.

@Time Glitch
You'd rather get a subpar version of the game (Smaller maps, less players,etc...) than support Origin?

BF3 console won't be BF3... It will be COD with a battlefield skin.

I was fortunate to pay only 22 euros for my pre-order on Origin. Even though that's cheap I still regret investing in the platform this early. Lets hope this Beta will change my mind.

Or wait, I forgot EA hates europe and it's up in the air if I'm actually gettin this at all!

If so, FUCK YOU EA. You can't spell EA without EUROPA! Or something!

I've already swapped one pre order to receive the physical warfare pack, but at least the price was the same - around 25 pounds. EA expects me to swap again and pay an extra 15 pounds? What is this?

As far as I'm aware no other entertainment medium messes its customers around with offers pulled out of the publisher's arse before the product is even released. To quote Jim, there's nothing wrong with calling a cunt a cunt. And you know what, EA? Throughout this buildup to BF 3 that is all you have been, you MASSIVE cunts.

Maybe I didn't play BC2 enough (only about 6 months), but what balance was "off"?

Well I'm not sure about the Beta being U.S. only or not.

But I was in Alpha testing and I live in Canada.

I hate DLC gifts for pre-orders or "Collector" Editions. I'm more than happy with Steam and although I miss Alice and Battlefield in Valve's litle money-maker virtual machine, I won't support Origin.

I'll buy BF3 physically, that is, if EA doesn't stop shipping their games in physical format to retailers.

I've pre-ordered on Origin and it's not half as bad as what people are saying. Just because it's new and EA. Steam will be remaining as my preferred platform though.
