It doesn't need to sell more than MW3, it just needs to cut into its sales figures at least a little, and by the looks of these pre-orders, it stands to do just that. Battlefield 3 is NEVER gunna sell the 7+million copies in a week that CoD games can shift, it'll probably struggle to get past 3 million, but even that would be enough to make a dent on Call of Duty's growth, and that's really all EA need to do for now.

As much as I hate to say it, Battlefield 3 will be the better game by a long shot, but it won't matter because ignorant 'gamers' that only play COD and Madden will buy MW3 without knowing anything about the game. Unfortunately there are more of them than hardcore gamers :(

I think the cod/madden fan will ALSO buy this game. Those fans you speak of tend to heed the call of they hype machine. So I think with the big ad campaign that EA has rolled out, they(cod/madden guys) will get this game also.

I think there will be those that buy BF3, those that buy COD: MW3 and those that buy both. Battle field will definitely take a chunk of sales away from COD but it's a really tough call to say who will sell the most. Probably COD... but who cares! I can't way to play em both.

I pre-ordered a good two months ago and don't think I will bother preordering MW2, I will just go out and grab a copy.
I am getting both games but really only want MW3 for Spec-Ops and single player as the online world for CoD is getting very bland these days.

I love (and already pre ordered) battlefield, it really doesen't matter if it beats the competition in sales (it won't of course) all that matters is that it's my kind of game, and i convinced a friend of mine to buy it (new to ps3, was considering COD, but was convinced when i showed him a couple of videos), so i guess i'm doing what i can for a franchise i love.
Yeah, I'm getting MW3. I like the Call of Duty games. They are consistently fun and I haven't gotten bored of them yet. I've sunk a decent amount of time into both Bad Company's and I wasn't impressed. The controls felt too "floaty" and the gameplay was kind of slow. However, the last thing I'm gonna do is bash the people who play battlefield simply because I don't like it. It's none of my damn business what other people buy.

As someone who LOVED Modern Warfare, I felt robbed by MW2.

Well yeah, bad company is like the unwanted child of the Battlefield series.. and why do they keep trying to push this as a COD killer? Two separate games. COD = run into crossfire, BF = not. At least most of the COD kids will be playing COD and not ruining my game of BF3 :)

Also what rehashed maps are we talking here? There were maps from MW1 that made it into DLC for MW2. Besides that, every game has it's own unique maps that are esthetically different from the last game and not all maps have the same heavy traffic areas & ambush/flanking areas. So your rehash comment while holding some weight is mostly bullshit.

I might rent it and give it a whirl at some point, Ive never tried a Battlefield game before. Does it have "levels" like Blops does? Im kind of a big RPG gamer so the ranks and unlocks and stuff is one of the main reasons I like Blops.
But I know I like CoD for the most part, and I also know that they will keep shitting out CoD games that are nothing new, so Im still more inclined to buy another CoD game than try a new one because I know what Ill be getting.

I will buy BF3 and MW3, I'll find out which one is better when I play them. What other people are enjoying is of no interest to me.

I'm just pointing out the hypocracy of calling CoD a yearly rehash when Battlefield does the exact same thing, and recieves no criticism for it. Heck they've even adopted the 15$ DLC pricing model, though they aren't as greedy as as Activision are...yet.

I'm really enjoying Bad Company 2 right now so I'm just going to stick with that, and I haven't even tried the Vietnam expansion yet. I think BF3 will be pretty much the same game but with graphics my computer can't run so I'm in no hurry to pre-order.
