Console gaming isn't as good as PC gaming, obviously, but as we all have to work more when we get older, I just don't have the time nor the energy to deal with all their bullshit.
Now buying EA games through Steam, that's another fucking story. I bought Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, which is SUPPOSED to come with all the DLC for the game, except you can't access any of it because they closed the in-game store down years ago which is where you need to download it from. Last time I ever buy an EA game on PC. I'll always try to buy them used now.
Yup! Also, few people seem to mention it, but the PC controls are awful. I wouldn't be surprised if that's intentional to force you to get an Xbox controller you wouldn't otherwise want or need.
Meanwhile, legitimate customers feel like morons for being, well, legitimate customers, while pirate have all the fun.
All those entitled gamers expecting to be able to play a game that they paid good money for....... its just disgusting :P
Seriously tho, why are they giving the pirates the best versions of the games nowadays on pc? I started buying legit because I hated all the bullshit that went into getting a cracked game to work and I wanted to support the devs, and now here we are with the same hurdles for purchased games with devs locking customers out of their products because their DRM doesn't work. If I'm going to deal with that, I might as well just get it for free to boot.
CD Keys for digital games? This is a joke, right? In case you're wondering Jim, this is why console gaming is *still* an easier, simpler choice for most people. Even if console gaming is more annoying than ever, at least 99% of games actually fucking work.
Ignoring that GFWL corrupted my game save *twice* and the disc version wouldn't work if I had that ether as SecuROM hates my Blu-ray drive, I am done.
I won't spend over £5 for anything that contains GFWL/SecuROM again.
UbiSoft is on the "do not take games for free from them" list.
Steam seems quite happy to deal with CD keys. Steam isn't GOG. Steam doesn't go out of its way to make sure the games it sells will actually run.
I got Steam keys for the Commandos games in an Indie bundle. I had to look on forums to find out how to enable *saving* and *loading* the game. Why? The version Steam supplies does not enable this by default. You have to manually edit the games' ini files to enable a basic game feature. And it isn't like it is a recent issue. I downloaded the games from Steam about a month or so ago. The Steam forum posts I read that explained how to fix the problem dated back to 2010. Neither the games publisher *nor* Steam have apparently made any effort to directly fix the issue in the intervening years.
