Batman: Arkham Asylum sells 2 million bat-copies photo

What's better than a licensed game that's actually good? A licensed game that's actually good and selling. Hot off the heels of Warner Bros. announcing DC Entertainment, it's been revealed that Batman: Arkham Asylum has shifted an impressive two million copies.

With Arkham Asylum released a little over two weeks ago, that translates to a million sales a week. The game's been categorized by its publisher as a "major hit," proving that you can make a licensed game without being lazy and still end up with a success on your hands.

Hopefully Arkham Asylum provides an eample to all developers of comic book games. Those responsible for slapdash licensed games of old should feel rightfully ashamed of themselves when they see how well this one's doing.

I mean, one of the problems with licensed games is that they're always part of a movie tie in and the game is rushed to come out close to the movie. They need to stop doing that. Of course, as long as it make money they'll continue to do it. Iron Man may have sucked but I think it moved a decent enough number of copies. Probably enough to turn a profit on it. Don't quote me on that though.

@BGFUSAB
Iron Man may have moved a decent number of copies, but were they bat-copies? I didn't think so.

Holy shit are you serious. I wanna buy the game, but first I have to get Halo 3: ODST. Great job Warner Bros. and Eidos (or Square Enix Europe).

So far im loving every second of this game.
It's not only a good example of a franchise game done right, but a prime one of how excellent and original game design translates directly into major profits for the developer.
This is a solid contender for GOTY imho.

Remember superman returns? That game wasn't released until a long time after also. Good to see someone finally get it right.

I like this talk of GOTY. I'm having a blast playing the game. Accolades and monies well deserved.

Defin sold a lot in Canada. For the first 3 days they sold it for $45 Canadian when it should have been $79. Thanks Walmart for putting the wrong price and letting us get it cheaper :P

Damn straight. This is the kind of encouragement developers need to make good licensed games.

Also, I wonder what bat-cakes taste like.

Loved the story mode and am now playing the challenge maps and enjoying them as well.

This is a game very deserving of the amount of bat-copies its sold.

I especially loved all the extra little side stuff you could do in the game. And all of it gives you upgrade points and character profiles and more awesome voice acting.

I live in Canada and picked it up at Walmart for $38.83. Every other store is selling it for $69.99.
