Batman: Arkham Asylum box show off a bloody Batman leg, T-rating photo

Eidos and Warner Bros. Interactive just hit us up with the final box art for Batman: Arkham Asylum, which hits shelves this summer.

The box shows a beat-up-looking Batman standing in the rain, bloody leg and all. The box also features the ESRB stamp for a "T" rating, which we were unable to confirm with Warner and Eidos this afternoon. Some had previously speculated that Arkham Asylum would be a mature title, due its dark tone. At the time of this writing, the ESRB Web site still doesn't show a rating for the title.

We're a bit surprised to see that the box art doesn't also feature the Joker, a character who seemingly could sell shampoo to bald dudes after Heath Ledger's Academy Award-winning performance in The Dark Knight. What do you guys think of the final Batman: Arkham Asylum artwork?

Besides the awkwardly large moon, I dig the cover.

Too generic for me. Without Batman on the cover it looks like it could have been any game from this generation.

As for the rating, I think it will follow suit with the Dark Knight and content wise by in the mythical grey area where its not enough to warrant R (M in this case) but is a lot more extreme than most PG13 (T) ratings.

the box art doesn't make any sense. Shouldn't it show Batman actually, you know, inside or in front of Arkham Asylum?

@chronic:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Arkham is on an island. With that said, he could be standing on the island with Gotham in the distance.

I'm pretty excited about this! The cover art is quite nice and seems to fit the tone of the game.
I just hope it doesn't suck.

For most of my gaming life, Eidos = bad controls and bad camera angles.
Don't fuck it up, Eidos.

From a graphic point it looks awesome.. but where is arkham in the cover art? I also agree about the Joker being on the front... maybe even putting Harley Quinn on there to since apparently she is in the game.

If i'm not mistaken. Everything from Batman's hip level down excluding the water is Arkham Asylum. The idea is basically him, and then he's on Arkham, with Gotham City in the background, to convey that he's there to do stuff.

As to why Joker and Harley Quinn (How I love her so) aren't on the cover. Maybe they didn't want to seem cheap by displaying everything the game is about at first glance especially with Joker being so popular these days.

My hope is that he's there to beat the bejesus out of people in wicked cool ways. In other words, Arkham = playground for batsy to have fun in and ultimately slap the silliness out of Joker. Or something.

The moon, they made the mistake of making it look like it was crashing through the clouds. When it's just supposed to be reflected light on the clouds.
