@Mazz
Who cares? Play it on your PC. Microsoft trolled you, son! U mad?
But hey its the developers wishes to miss out on another platform, gotta respect that shit right?
If I was gay I'd totaly fuck a guy named bastion.
Yea and the pc will be dooable, but what if I want to play on a 50 inch screen instead of a 19.
because? Limbo is one of the highest selling xbla titles. Trying to construe that audience as dumb teenage fpsers?
Oh, and @Basstomouth: that's because XBLA is made up of a TON of serious garbage (don't worry, so are the PSN and WiiWare) so the best of them SHOULD be the highest selling period. Quality is Quality no matter what the crowd.
Aside from the technical aspect, the business side leans toward XBLA/PC as well. XBLA games make more money per investment dollar than PSN. Period. Porting to PSN will still make money, but the margin won't be as high as a XBLA/PC release.
This isn't a case of a giant mega-corporation developer with deep pockets.
This is a very small developer, and this is their *first* game. How do you think people who make video games get them published? By the magic funding fairy?
People always praise and hail Sony for "helping indies" like some Saint-like diety. Again, this is another case of Microsoft proving that they actually do it more.
I logged into the PSN Store yesterday to check out the newest releases, and what did I see? A year old indie game that Microsoft already gave a chance and published [Limbo], a game that was on XBLA two weeks ago [Dead Block], and "Fast Draw Showdown" - a terrible laserdisc game that was already remade for the Wii.
If you want to play these unique games like Bastion, buy a 360 for dirt cheap (about $100 cheaper than a PS3) and stop blindly following Sony! It's not a hard choice!
Although true it may have sold better on the PS3 than 360 I'm sure it came down to what the team knew in terms of programming language and whether or not it was feasible to learn the PS3's in the amount of time they had.
and the whole ps3 is harder to develop for is stupid too. Developers know the harware now. It may be cheaper to develop for 360, but i don't think its a huge commitment to port a copy over to ps3.
This is why Destructoid keeps him around, he can't review games for shut, but he is 'controversial'
He just dropped a truth-bomb, Nagasaki style.
Except that it is a huge commitment to port a game. I don't claim to know much about game development, but I'm pretty damn sure porting isn't as simple as just throwing your game's code into a different console and watching what happens. Bastion's dev studio is really quite small and they likely don't have the resources to be able to afford something like that (for now).
Hell, look at the big companies like EA, it still takes companies like them at least a few months to properly port something. It's not that easy, it costs money, and you might not make as much back as you like. So if a big company already has to consider the pros and cons of porting a game, do you really think a small studio like SuperGiant is going to think about it?
It just doesn't make sense. There have been many small indy developers who made a game for both systems, even if it took more time on one console.
"Q: Why is the game not available for my favorite platform, e.g. PS3, Mac, Linux, iOS, etc.?
A: It’s nothing personal. As a studio, we’re not limited by what platforms we can support, and as game players, we like and use them all. That said, the quality of our game is our primary concern, and that means having to focus on developing for one platform at a time. Our secondary goal is to make Bastion available on as many platforms as makes sense – where there exists a sufficient demand and where we can offer the game without compromising on its quality. Weighing these priorities together, we made the decision to start with the Xbox 360 version and move on to PC after that. Once those versions are locked in, we’ll see how things are going and decide where to go from there."
How did Jim twist the truth? Near as I can tell, Jim simply said the development studio has "no plans" to develop for the PS3 and from what you posted, it seems like the studio has no current plans for any other platform than currently announced. Once the PC version is complete, then they'll see... but at the moment, they don't plan on releasing it for any other plan.
Jim hadn't suggested that it will never see a PS3 release, just that currently there is nothing in the works.
You probably don't realize this because fanboys rarely do, but every time you post shit like this you make PC gaming look less and less desirable to console people like me, simply because your arrogant anti-console stance can be seen as a reflection that all PC gamers are Elitist ass hats that can't just enjoy what they got without talking down consoles.
Please, in future and this goes for everyone keep bullshit fanboyism at home when talking up the strengths of your chosen gaming platform.
They just didn't have to insult our inteligence. Sure they shouldn't need several months to tweaks PC controls...
It won't be out to PC for a while because Microsoft paid to have it delayed.
Game looks good... Based on that single pic. I hope they don't remove controller controls from the pc version. Always so retard when devs do so.
Amtalx said it better than I could.
