Here it is folks, the latest videogame news, straight from my television set. That is how Bass and Treble will look in Mega Man 10. They'll be made available as playable characters via DLC on April 5th, for the cost of 200 Wii points. Also launching on April 5th is the first of three downloadable Special Stages for Mega Man 10, for a measly 100 Wii points. This stage will have it's own unique boss, though nothing else is known about it at this time.
Even later, on April 26th, we'll see the return of Endless Mode (one of my favorite aspects of Mega Man 9) for 300 Wii points. We'll also get not one, but two more Special Stages, again for one buck each. Of course, this all only applies to the WiiWare version of the game, and may not apply to the PSN an XBLA ports.
So far, I'm not sure that I like Mega Man 10 as much as Mega Man 9, but there is no arguing that the DLC is better this time around. Three new stages, and a character that has never before entered the realm of the low-res sprite. That's pretty much "the balls" for a retro-Mega Man fan like myself.
(And yes, I know Forte appeared on the Wonderswan version of Rockman and Forte. That doesn't count.)
MM10 DLC Revealed, Bass Confirmed As Third Playable Character (UPDATE) [Protodude's Rockman Corner]
I'm really feeling MMX (lol). Like, IX was cool, but X...not only shares a name with another game in the series, but has been a blast.
Mega Man 9 was okay, but I think I'll save my money for Cave Story and Art of Balance...
DLC can have it's merits, especially in games like Fallout 3, but I don't approve of any of this kind of crap that Capcom is notorious for, and I used to love Capcom...
Next you're going to tell me I can download NES games on it. I don't like being lied to like this.
Capcom is a great company, their evil ways are just destroying the gaming industry.
+1
On principle alone I refuse to pay for features that these douchebag companies shamelessly leave out of the game just so they can charge us more money after the fact.
Endless mode as DLC? Fair enough. I never really got deep into in 9, so i'm fine getting that in optional premium.
Spare stages for a buck? Sure why not.
Mega Man 10 is $18 for the full package, and is an excellent game. DLC for $60 games? I can see bitching at that EASILY, because often times it's huge things that were stricken from the disc. But $18 for a full Mega Man game? C'mon people.
If the game shipped with only 6 bosses, I would understand but they is evidence counter to that. This optional stuff that will allow you to extend the game past it original scope, either enjoy it or ignore it.
There are alleged screenshots right now of Forte/Gospel fusion!
Personally, after spending about an hour playing the game, I think I'll be spending enough time just trying to get my bearings. So far, I'm struggling more than I was with MM9. Between playing MM10 and Cho Aniki (which I also downloaded tonight), my hands have gotten an exercise that only old-school twitch gaming can provide.
It seems things like this will only continue to lead into circular ranting.
Heh, then again... it IS the Internet.
These are all arguably great features, and would be worthy of a full boxed release at $30, which is what'd they'd probably have to charge to get everyone their reasonable share.
But, its a digital format. The versatility is there to offer a basic app and added value by pieces at a later date. You actually have a package that respects you as a consumer, more than "forcing" a larger ticket price for more "hardcore" features that some consumers may not want.
So they didn't make Bass's sprites look like that WHY? Good god are those ugly, just like Megaman's sprites.
Seriously guys, pixel glitching isn't good gameplay, its poor design. Yeah, Capcom loves you...
It's still a pretty good game, but I know I will not be indulging in any post-release DLC this time around. Bass included.
"Seriously guys, pixel glitching isn't good gameplay, its poor design. Yeah, Capcom loves you..."
If you're talking about the sprite flicker, that's an optional (repeat: OPTIONAL) effect the creators put it to further emulate the old NES MM games. But thanks for playing.
Anyways, can't wait for the stuff. Looks like it'll be fun. :D
DLC shouldn't be made during the game, only after. Otherwise, keep it in the game with the rest of the code! Unless you want to be a dick like Capcom. For god's sake, the code for Bass is probably in the full game anyway. We just gotta pay to use it. God damn it, Capcom...
