Banjo-Tooie coming to XBLA next year; Banjo-Kazooie dated

Banjo-Tooie coming to XBLA next year; Banjo-Kazooie dated photo
     Rare

Banjo-Kazooie is one of the greatest platformers ever created, even surpassing masterpiece Super Mario 64 in my mind. Banjo-Tooie -- the game’s amazingly named sequel -- is also awesome, although it lacks a little of the original’s charm and flawless design. It's still fantastic, don't get me wrong ... I just get a little overwhelmed with the sheer amount of stuff to do and places to explore.

For fans of both these games, today brings some pretty fantastic news! Microsoft just announced that Banjo-Tooie will be headed to Xbox Live Arcade in early 2009. Previously announced XBLA release Banjo-Kazooie was also dated, officially hitting Microsoft’s download service on November 26, two weeks after 360 exclusive Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts leaps onto store shelves.

Both games will cost a hefty (but worth it!) 1200 points, but anyone that wants to take advantage of the Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts preorder bonus still can (by preordering Nuts & Bolts you will receive Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA for free!).

What do you think of this awesome news? Do you adore the Banjo-Kazooie games as much as I do? Will you be downloading these games when they are released? Do you wish everyone spoke gibberish like the characters in Banjo-Kazooie? And just because I am curious: what is your favorite Mumbo Jumbo transformation?

I'm sooooo excited! I love Banjo-Kazooie so much and cannot wait until Nuts & Bolts comes out. I own both games for my N64 but I'll definitely be supporting and getting both games on XBLA as well. :)

Washing machine FTW!!!

I own both BK games on N64, but I'll definitely swallow my pride and preorder Nuts and Bolts to get the original on my Xbox

Banjo-Tooie is actually like, #3 on my favorite games of all time list, just below Metal Gear Solids 2 and 4, with the original one down maybe one or two spots. Mostly because of the mystery of Stop 'N' Swop that surrounded the title, and the months spent on forums searching for it and failing miserably, but also because of the amazing gameplay, graphics, writing, music, and presentation. God bless the Banjo games.

I pre-ordered, but will GLADLY pay the 1200 for Tooie. And I'd definitely pay for Kazooie if the bonus did not exist. Even though I own the original N64 carts, I'm sure the XBLA versions won't freeze on me at random times.

My favorite transformation, eh? For Mumbo, I'm going with the crocodile. So badass. As for Humba Wumba, I'm all about the washing machine. Such a weird character to play as.

Man, this is fucking awesome news. The only thing I hated about Banjo-Tooie was the awful frame rate, which hopefully should be cleaned up being on newer hardware.

WOOHOOOo!!!

Also, althought the washing machine was awesome, I quite liked the Baby T-Rex transformation.

I love Banjo-Kazooie but 1200 points for this is pretty fucked up.

Let me be clear: I bought Braid without hesitation and fought like an internet retard tooth and nail against people who complained that 1200 was too much.

The difference is that this fucking game is ten years old. Braid was brand new. Adding insult to injury is that this game is FREE with pre-order of $40 game. It's like spitting in the face of those who aren't confident that Rare is capable of producing anything that doesn't suck anymore.

So, fuck you, Rare. I'll go get a free code from a buddy at Gamestop and buy a used copy of Nuts & Bolts. You won't get a god damn cent of my paycheck.

Also, I bought Mega Man 9 from the Wii Shop, gladly, for $10. I didn't complain about that price because it took them time to set up the program and create new content.

Rehashing old games and charging more than $5 or $10 for them is god damn highway robbery. Even Duke Nukem 3D for $10 is pretty outrageous, considering all they did was port it, make it work with the controller (ooh, I bet that was hard!) and added "arcade-style sidewall art" instead of actually making the fucking thing 16:9. DOOM was 400 points and I gladly paid that, as it was a reasonable price for a game that had modern online multiplayer added to the XBLA release.

while I'm not quite as hostile as redgopher...
I do agree that BK is a bit overpriced at 1200 msp. I hate that they are making the new prices 800/1200. I hope that Mega Man 9 is only 800 when it comes out next week.
Oh yea, I'll be preordering for BK.

Didn't the old press release mention that if you preordered you got BK earlier than when it came out?

So will it be a remake or port? A port is not worth $15. I can play the original two N64 games on a modded Xbox for free.

Im really exicited about all three BK games coming to 360 if nothing else than the childhood mystery of the ice key and the eggs that were put into the orginal games. I am super curious to find out if Bk and Bt will have the Stop and swap functionality that the orginals left out. It would be amazing if after completing the first two you unlock something in Banjo "Threeie" or vice versa.

You know, I never actually played the sequel, despite the teasers at the end of Banjo-Kazooie. I feel like I ought to take advantage of the pre-order bonus, but I'm running out of space on my hard drive. How much space do these games take up?

I know these were wonderful games, but can we please stop this "Banjo Kazooie is the best platformer ever" shit?

Come on now, anyone who understands game design can tell you Super Mario Galaxy is the best ever.

Anyway, I will definitely be taking advantage of the pre-order bonus for this, and I will most likely pay the 15 bucks for Banjo Tooie. I have fond memories of both games...

Banjo Kazooie includes about 10x the content and game length of any other title on XBLA. I think it's completely fair.

God banjo kazzoie sucked, it was even worse collectathon than mario 64 was.

what happend to xbox that old live statement.

"Xbox live arcade is not the place for your old crappy playastion n64 and sega saturn games."

Oh ya that guy left.

Even jet pac is better than that crap and it is only 500 points.

It could be worse though I guess it could be the jet force gemni that was utter crap and had broken controls at the same time. or even worse donkey kong 64.

Wake me when they put on arcade ports of battle toads, RC pro AM or something good.
