Do you remember the extra mode in Balloon Fight where you went towards the left of the screen, popping lime green balloons and avoiding electrocution, on and on and on, and it just got harder, and harder, until you died? I seem to be remembering it a lot these days. [Editor's note: I was thinking the same thing when I got a parking ticket yesterday; it's a shame I couldn't return the favor with her choice of electrocution or drowning. Anyway, check out his original video -- it's amazing! -Niero]
I am pretty sure that when I'm going to die, I'll be hooked up to some sorta machine where I watch a video to ease my transition into the afterlife and this video will be playing.
Thanks guys, can you help me think of any other games with philosophical possibilities?
also I got this comment on YouTube and find it amusing on so many levels:

what's the name of that game where the guy was jumping up to hit the blocks? i remember playing a game like that on my old Gameboy, but i can't remember the name of it =/
If he's talking about games in this video I think it's Solomon's Key, a game which I owned as a child and is soul-crushingly difficult.
From wikipedia:
"Solomon's Key is generally recognized as one of the most difficult games to appear on the NES. The player must overcome unlimited enemy spawning, challenging level designs, a countdown timer, Dana's fragility, and limited ways to dispatch enemies. In addition, it's easy for players to unintentionally make levels impossible to clear while playing them"
Fuck yeah talking heads. Good choice.
You lost points for not including any Beckett, but then I'm not sure he had much in the way of highly quotable lines anyway. Good show, though.
@RedesignedGamer: Are you looking for retro games specifically to use? Because there are modern games that come to mind (Persona 3 came to mind when I saw Harvest Moon and the mundane chores :V)
A couple of excellent quotes from Tom Nagel's "The Absurd" in there. I highly recommend that all of you take a look at that essay.
I thought that video was great. As far as further games with philosophical implications, there are countless many, but it's hard to think of those with discrete philosophical import (rather than explicit ethical dilemmas). Well done!
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
You only thought the balloon is real.
I loved that game.
I wish they would bring it back for the Wii. As I don't have a WiFi connectability for online purposes.
Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle was also always a favorite of mine & my sister's on the NES.
My mom and I played Balloon fight quite a bit (rented it), awesome game!

Yeah, kinda appropriate for this montage.
TOO FUCKING BAD!

And I agree with MrSadistic. This is like life's "Game Over" screen. haha
EarthBound. It leaves you a lot of thinking.
Also, Lemmings is another idea.

i love balloon fight specially when i accidentally pops the balloon of player 2. lol.
Thanks for putting this on the front page. I would have probably missed this otherwise.
