As it turned out, Pac-Man Championship Edition was amazing. No, it is amazing. To this day, it stands as one of my favorite Xbox LIVE Arcade games, an absolutely brilliant-yet-simple title that everyone should own.
Now the above video is old by Internet standards (it appeared on
NicoVideo back in July), but
a post at GamerBytes just brought it to my attention. Yes, someone re-created
Pac-Man Championship Edition in the style of an 8-bit NES game. Not only is the game fully operational (no, I don't know where or if you can find a ROM anywhere), but it looks just as fun as the original.
Hey, that reminds me -- I still haven't beaten
Chad's leaderboard score. I'm coming for you, Concelmo.
