AX 09: Demon's Souls release date announced, perks included photo

Demon's Souls is coming to North America on October 6th for the PlayStation 3. Priced at $59.99 in a standard edition, it will ship with an art book and brand new cover art. Additionally, the game will be served on new North American servers. Atlus calls out Final Fantasy XI's online experience as a reason for the new servers. Ooh, burn.

The Atlus Spoils program continues with a $69.99 "Stop Importing It" edition. It will come with a 150+ page strategy guide and a fancy slip cover, too.

Again, both will be released on October 6th, which was announced here at Anime Expo for the first time. We'll get you pictures as soon as possible.

Nice I am stoked for this game. It's interesting to see such an innovative title from From Software (bad English not intended).

best game i've played on the ps3 to date. I've sunk 80+ hours into it. Import it now if you're bored of the crap being labeled as games that is being released lately.

I'm getting the regular edition because I'm a video game masochist and don't want no damn strategy guide to ruin it for me.

Huh. I knew this was coming in October 6th two days ago when I walked into GameStop to see if they were taking reserves for it yet. They had it in that little release date binder.

If you imported it would it support the NA servers?

I imported it. If I have to buy the NA version to play it online then I'll sell my imported copy happily.

150+ pages strategy guide? Gay. Strategy guides are sooo last decade.

@Chronic Logic

Apparently the game is really hard, so perhaps you'll need it.

Yeah I have it, and I love it, but a strategy guide would actually increase you enjoyment.

Ah, dammit. Now I'm gonna have to cancel my FIRST preorder.

Oh well, it comes with stuff! And I love the "Stop Importing It" title. I hope they keep that in the official header.

Besides, it cost me around $75 to import the damn thing the first time, so I'll just write that off. I wonder if I'll be able to sell my old one. Or maybe play both, and get my trophies twice.

I usually don't have the patience for really hard games(I'm playing the wussy Noble class). But this one isn't frustrating.

Yes, you die a lot. But it manages to stay fun and not frustrating.

I would worry about if I can play my HK import after the US release, but hey, I don't mind, I'll buy the special edition too. I'm not made of money but this game is one of those that I'd gladly buy again (Beyond Good and Evil being the only other one I felt like that with).

I started, and having so much fun with the Thief. It was SOOOO difficult at the start. Took me 20-30 tries to just get the main gate open. But now it's worth it, I'm lithe, wired and stabby-in-back-y!
