It really shouldn't be a surprise that former Sega fans are drawn to Microsoft's consoles--they are, after all, the heirs to Sega's hardware line.
I mean, look at it. Microsoft worked with Sega on the Dreamcast--the thing ran on Windows CE. They scooped up Peter Moore after Sega stopped doing hardware. The Xbox controller is only slightly more distantly removed from the Dreamcast controller than the Playstation controller is from the SNES controller. They picked up Team Ninja's DOA series as a flagship title. Microsoft continued the Dreamcast's online strategy nearly verbatim.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out the Master Chief was a blue hedgehog under that armor...
