Awesome C64 iPhone app stays free, gets update photo

I found out about this slick Commodore 64 iPhone App from Jim at the best time: when it was free. But it's going to stay free now, it turns out. When the publisher moved this App to a free daily promotion, they saw such a spike in downloads that they decided to keep it free forever. Nice.

Of course, you can pay for extra games in the in-app store. That's probably a better way to make money on this anyway. If you're cheap, there's still free games included and more to download. And the paid games are pretty cheap; usually $0.99.

C64 has now topped 1.5 million downloads. Because of this, Manomio is planning an update in which they'll "introduce a huge number of very nice games."

The controls on this app are atrocious.

I agree with Space Moose.

But if they get Dante's Inferno on this I swear I'll go nuts with joy.

I paid for it and am glad I did. The work being done here is tremendous and much apreciated, esp. if you had one back in the day. Mine is currently in the basement but I need to get it and my HUGE floppies out for another go soon.

I hope DRUID is in the next update. I would pay a bunch just for that. Oh, and LEGACY OF THE ANCIENTS.

I have to say I downloaded this a week or so ago and I love it mainly because my dad and I still break out our C64 every weekend and play The last ninja 2 can't wait for this to be rereleased for the iPad. Now that will be epic

Downloaded this last week and pretty quickly deleted it. I'm not too familiar/nostalgic about the C64, so none of the games really called out to me.

"C64 iPhone" sounds dangerously like "Cinco-phone", and once I start thinking about the C-phone, I just can't stop.

I would love a good c64 emu for Android. My first games I ever had (at age 6) were Midnight Resistance, Sly Spy Secret Agent, Night Breed and the other games that were bundled with the ridiculously slow to load tape deck. Good times!

Oh and of course Speedball a little later on... Brutal Deluxe for the win :D
