Avalanche: Expect 'a lot of DLC' for Just Cause 2 photo

Another day, another discussion about some game getting post-launch content. This time, it's Just Cause 2, the lovable open-world game about free falling and grappling hooks from Avalanche Studios. Talking to lead designer Peter Johansson, Eurogamer got a tease of what's to come.

"We're going to have a lot of DLC," says Johansson. "We'll see what happens. DLC is important, but a game like Just Cause 2 can live pretty long because it's not just playing through the story and being done with it -- there's the completion rating and playing with friends."

Based on what I've played of the game, I'm struggling to come up with interesting things that could be added by way of add-ons. There's so much stuff crammed in already, I don't exactly know where the team could go from here. They'll think of something creative, surely. I hope.

The demo alone made my whole body tense up like a boner. I'm having trouble walking around. I can't wait!!!

i'm very much looking forward to this game. It's looking great and expanding upon what they put down on disk will only add to the value. I'm hoping this is a sleeper hit and we see a lot more to come from it.

Can't think of what to add? It's so obvious what this game needs: co-op. I can only hope that's what Johansson was talking about when he said "playing with friends" since I can't see much playing "with" in a single-player game.

Bullet time please. Imagine all the cool shit you could do with bullet time. Free fall into a Government installation, hit bullet time before you reach the ground, headshot the boss in slow mo, then return time to normal as you activate your parachute. AWESOME.

Co-op is obvious, but is that something they'd add as DLC? I guess crazier things have happened.

Question is though, can we expect an -avalanche- of DLC?

wing suit damn it!

maybe a destruction mode, controller swap style. like red faction:G.

also online co-op is a must. but split screen would be nice.
cant think of much else. besides vehicles. maybe weapons.

Is it wrong for me to be more impressed with Just Cause 2 than Uncharted 2? It's just that, despite being graphically inferior to the latter, its visual scale is just damn impressive. I feel like it's the open-world version of Uncharted 2 (to me, they have similar art direction and style) with Mercenaries and GTA like gameplay. The demo just kept me asking for me.

No. Damn 'no edit' button. The last bit sounded awkward. "kept asking for me". I meant asking for MORE.

I was so dissappointed with the original that I had no interest in this. However I took a chance on the demo and was amazed.

They really listened to feedback and fixed the broken elements of the original such as terrible lock-on shooting and janky vehicle controls and wonky car physics.
Plus the hook has more uses this time around. I wonder if it's going to make lost Planets grappling hook seem quaint.

DLC: Netcode for Co-op.

I would pay $10 for said DLC.

The first was a horrible, broken game - let's hope the gameplay quality for number 2 (for those who buy it) matches the PR campaign effort.

Was the game hard or did I just suck? I kept dying in the demo?

@ Oishidesu

Uhh... Maybe it's just you. Dying in the demo is a difficult task unless you stop moving. The funny part in where it's like a reverse Spiderman of sorts. Fire the grappling hook at something and when you get dragged, you immediately deploy the parachute. When in midair, just fire the grappling hook at the ground and when you're being reeled in, hold down on the Y-axis. Really, really weird. It's like Spiderman without buildings.

The only part where I almost died was when I got that helicopter gunship from one of the bases and suddenly missiles were being fired at me. The bastards.

Co-op must be one thing. He states right in his comment that it's "not just playing through the story and being done with it -- there's the completion rating and playing with friends."

Playing with friends...the game has no multiplayer as of now. I'd say that makes co-op all but confirmed as one piece of DLC.

I get the feeling that Avalanche, in their bid to get the game out, weren't sure they could the online co-op to work.

But given that just about everyone looking forward to this game is asking for it, they'd be stupid not to put it in. And it never seemed to be something they were against so much as they weren't sure if they had the time.

Its things like this that make DLC awesome rather than stupid. Too bad its not the norm this gen.

Anyway, let's hope for up to 4 players! Alright, fine, I'll settle for two but four would be absolutely awesome to the infinity!

A lot of the vehicles are already designed for two players.

I hate the concept of DLC. It creates divisions in online gaming eg. MW2 when the map pack comes out, if I chose not to purchase this, it will become a huge problem as all of a sudden I won't have the map pack and thus can't load/continue playing with this great server that I have finally found... I also find this completely insulting from Activision in that they have already made 10 Bajillion dollars from MW2... why not GIVE something BACK to the community that has supported them rather than bleed us dry??

Also, DLC is pure greed... in Just Cause 2, why the fuck is there even talk of DLC before the game is released????? Why not instead get the game out, with all of the functionality already included in the game. I personally think that at $100 (Australian) is an extraordinary amount of money to pay for a game and then I am expected (apparently) with so many new releases that if I want to finish the game, then I will have to pay some more to do so...

Am I the only one who thinks this stinks?
