Attention, quivering fans: Diablo III Overture is free on iTunes! photo

Ever since that glorious day at the end of June when Diablo III was officially revealed, I've been splitting my time between rejoicing that the time has finally come and agonizing how I am going to afford optimizing my computer to handle it (as we all know, the game just has too many damnable colors).

However, as much as I look forward to playing the game, I am excited for the soundtrack, and while my cool points may plummet significantly, I have to admit it: I own the soundtrack to Diablo II, and I still listen to it fairly regularly. Hearing the music for Diablo III was a big deal for me, as I knew it was a major part of what made the previous games so resonant for me. Even hearing it now throws me directly back into those games and all the hours I spent playing them.

If you head to iTunes (or you can go direct via this link), you can download the Diablo III Overture as performed by Russell Brower and the Eminence Symphony Orchestra for free. Yeah, listening to this will likely have the same effect as watching a hot girl take off a small portion of clothing and then vanish, but you know, it's better than nothing. I'll take anything to feed my voracious hunger for this game until the day it finally debuts.

Thats cool and gay at the same time.
That's right gay, it's the early 2000s again.

I think the track is pretty fantastic. Free is just the icing.

Sadly, the track is only free in the US... us Canucks are left in the cold on this promotion.

@moshakirby:

What do you mean again? It still *is* the early 2000's.

Anyway, nice that we get the tune'age free. Although I'm steadfast against iTunes, to each their own though. To those that have it (the aforementioned multimedia listening program) rock on. Oh, and the tune(s), too.

i listened to it already...sounds decent.
If you don't already have itunes don't bother...just download a torrent instead.

My question is...why the hell is blizzard constantly releasing info on this game? I mean this thing must be coming out within the next year. Summer 2009 sounds about right. I can't think of another reason for all these releases.

I must be one of the few gamers who can't stand in-game music. I can listen to it for the first playthrough.. maybe.. but then i'll turn the ingame stuff off except for sound effects sometimes and just turn on some music from itunes or something. Am I the only one who does this? I personally have never heard a sound from FF7 or Chrono Trigger.. does this make me a bad person?
