The first full MegaTen game on the DS, Strange Journey, is looking pretty good. We knew it was coming, but Atlus has been pretty tight-lipped on details until recently. Now that we're drawing closer to the Japanese release date of October 10th, some new details are coming out, including this new promotional video.
In this video you'll see plenty of game play. You'll get a taste of the first-person fully 3D dungeon crawling. You'll also see the battles, which look like highly upgraded versions of the visuals in battles in Atlus' other recent DS game, Devil Survivor. Even the demon system is shown off for a bit. The art for these demons looks nice, and now they are even animated.
I know that Atlus USA is going to bring this over. It's just a question of when. Hurry up!

Meet the rest of the team
After playing the second coming of Christ (Atlus' US Demon's Souls localization), I've made a pact to at some point in my life, buy every Atlus game ever.
I simply cannot wait for my pre-ordered copy of Demon's Souls to arrive you are SOOO lucky to have already played it. Strange Journey looks pretty sweet too.
@Zombie
I'll be playing it well into the release date! I plan on completing new game+, attempting to get a max level character, and restarting another full-on Royal. The timetable for completion is "end of 2009" :p
look down to the left side of the screen, you'll see in english "NEW Trailer 2"... which is the new trailer of course.
i'm liking the retro-ness, and the somewhat more serious feel it seems to have... i do hope it turns out as interesting as... er, well, i'd hope :P and i seriously hope that the game lacks any young boys learning what it means to be an adult, a cold man or woman learning the value of love/friendship/etc, or an embedded message that you need to work hard and believe in yourself if you want to succeed (guh) :P if it manages that, it's going in the right direction!
note the "now talking" part that appears at least once during the video - presumably, there will be demon conversations. not that that's odd for a megaten game or anything, but the series has been moving more and more away from this (like with Digital Devil Saga, which totally lacked it), and it doesnt seem likely that there's any form of demon recruitment (since the four-person party seems pre-chosen, with humans). so it'll be maybe-interesting to see what purpose it has for this game - perhaps something similar to gaining a new persona. if only i knew japanese, and could understand all the text in that trailer!
oh, jeez! i was completely wrong. presumably those humans wont always be in your party or something (i should pay closer attention to what the names *actually* say in those fights).
check this video:

it shows a party, in combat, made up of the main character, an angel, an oni, and an archangel (i can at least read katakana, if shakily), and it shows the oni levelling up.
:) very happy about this! it really seems like it's going to the core the main megaten series, gameplay-wise!
I have no idea what is going on in that video but atlus games are usually really good- at least for the first 3/4 of the game before they shoot the skill curve to the roof on every damned game they make.
You say this, and then mention Devil Survivor in the same post? What absurdity is this?
I'm very eager to play this, but I want Atlus to take it's time. I still haven't finished Etrian Odyssey 2 or Class of Heroes, so I don't really have time for another dungeon hack ATM. That said, I'll likely drop everything to play this when it does come out just because it's SMT because that's how I roll.

Atlus, publishing a Shin Megami Tensei game in North America? I know, I was pretty shocked too to learn that Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, the company's first-person science fiction Promotional Items RPG, was being localized for a stateside Nintendo DS release.

I don't have a video either, had to search around the Interwebs for the details, found it over at their website.
