Demon's Souls is one of the best RPGs ever made, that is a fact that cannot be disputed. However, the game's wonderful quality was unfortunately not carried over into the Deluxe Edition and its strategy guide, which has become quite notorious for fading ink and an inability to survive being taken out of the slipcase. Fortunately for us, Atlus is a lovely publisher and has offered to replace your strategy guide.
"While it seems that not every copy of the guide is affected, and the specific cause of the issue remains unclear, Atlus always strives for nothing less than the full satisfaction of our customers," explains the publisher. "Therefore, we will soon launch a program to replace defective strategy guides."
Atlus is yet to announce the details, but we shall know soon what Deluxe Edition owners can do to get a superior version of that slightly useful strategy guide. Isn't that lovely?
Dearest Customers,
Over the last couple weeks, we’ve received reports from owners of the Deluxe Edition of Demon’s Souls that some copies of the Official Strategy Guide were experiencing unusual cover ink wear/fading.
While it seems that not every copy of the guide is affected, and the specific cause of the issue remains unclear, Atlus always strives for nothing less than the full satisfaction of our customers. Therefore, we will soon launch a program to replace defective strategy guides.
Stay tuned for details on when the program will begin and specific steps on how to submit your replacement request. We can say at this time that we will ask customers to mail in their cover and the first page of their guide as proof of purchase, leaving them with a usable book while we process their replacement claim. Full instructions will be posted in this thread next week.
Thank you for supporting us and making Demon’s Souls such a big hit. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused, but fear not: we’ve got you covered (pun intended).

He played the shitty console port.. so he'll never know. Both games are solid, though.
I'm still working on borderlands.
And Atlus is just amazing. They really seem to love their fans, don't they/
But things like this replacement program are part of why I like Atlus so much.
Read the whole sentence before you post, and think about what it's saying. He didn't say it was THE best, and Demon's Souls is a fantastic RPG. One of the best games on the PS3, not just RPG's. As is Dragon Age...maybe, I haven't played the console version but I hear it's got some issues like a more limited UI, texture pop-in, lips not syncing on occasion...generally presentation issues, but all things that could change the way you perceive how good it is, polish goes a long way. PC version is nice though, aside from the click-to-move, it's not fully featured enough (click and hold to keep moving should be in it, as it is it's a bit annoying; but there's 2 other ways to move around so it's not an issue, especially because I'm very used to those other 2).
The spine of my guide is pure white at this point, and a big portion of the cover rubbed off too. It actually isn't a huge deal to me since the pages inside don't have this problem and that's kinda the point of a guide.
But I'll still probably get a new shiny one if the process isn't too much of a hassle.
And seriously, Demon's Souls is awesome. I have so many other games just begging to be played just gathering dust thanks to DS.
I've played a good deal of the PC version too.
It's not as good as Demon's Souls in any of its incarnations.
Personally, I do feel that Demon's Souls is the best RPG I've played this gen. Of course, it's not exactly like this gen has had a whole lot of great RPGs, but Demon's Souls is definitely the top of them in my book.
"I love how when he said "Demon's Souls is one of the best RPGs of all time", people jump up and say "Nuh uh! (insert game title) is better!", as if he said "Demon's Souls is THE best RPG of all time" instead."
I've probably read every article Dtoid did about Dragon Age and the last month or so a good portion of them has someone in the comments mention how the game wouldn't be as good as Demon's Souls. Here are a few gems:
Dragon Age Review:
FAIL! Demon's Souls FTMFW!
Dragon Age PS3 hits Nov 3:
"This game looks corny and derivative anyways. It's like a saturday morning cartoon. After experiencing how desolate, dark, and empty Demon's Souls world was, this just looks like some bubblegum/candy store/comic book/10 year old boy fantasy world. No thanks, Bioware is overrated."
Dragon Age Forum Thread
Meh. Had you asked me before October 6th, I would have told you that my level of excitement for this game was near critical meltdown. Then Demon's Souls entered my life. Now I longer even remotely anticipating 'Mass Effect with Swords'. In fact, I bumped it to the bottom of the ol' GameFly Q two days ago..
Everyone knows that Demon's Souls is GOTY. Dragon Age might have gotten it if it was released a year earlier.
So you can see why fans of Dragon age may be at the end of their rope when it comes to Demon's Souls
Now to my original point for commenting on the story:
Now that Atlus is reprinting guides why don't they just print a few more so those that bought the regular version and have since fallen in love with the game could have the chance to own more Demon's Souls swag?
<3
Also, this is the reason I love Atlus. Can't wait to find out how to get my guide replace, even though all it has is some white on the binding xD
Don't believe me? Well that just proves to me that you do not own the guide.

I was unaware that "one of the" meant "the only".
Demon Souls doesn't compare to those games. It has a weak story and the only way to keep the game from being repeative is its difficulty. Dragon Age Origins is the undisputed RPG king this year.
seems people are comparing the two imo. i'm not too thrilled about dragon age, but i do want demon soul.
"demon soul is blatantly better than dragon age" coming very soon i take it?
but noone can deny atlus definitively knows how to treat their fans, they really appreciate their support
probably, jim loves to be hated
