For all the people saying Oh I won't buy this game anymore, you should reconsider, I got this game a few weeks ago and I play offline and its really really fun. Online isn't a necessary thing for this game to be a great game to play through.
Its still an awesome game, regardless of online or offline play. Get this game! And its only 30 bucks, thats a steal for a game of this quality.

I'm glad the game has continued to be successful enough to warrant an extension of Online services. I don't really play Online anymore, bu more support to a game I love is never a bad thing.
this is the best and most original rpg this gen. i just got it 2 weeks ago and its nearly flawless in presentation and scope.

I can't pretend I don't care about the servers being extended though I'm very glad for that, I'd be lost without the online interaction. I'm also glad they didn't shut it down in April like they sad they would originally. It would have been too soon.

I hope this doesn't apply to European servers. Maybe Namco Bandai as some more funds to keep Boletaria running.

I have to say the negative reaction is a bit overstated, especially when the announcement is an extension, not a date for the servers to be shut off.
More importantly, I played through Demon's Souls the first time without being online and I LOVED every minute of it. Seriously it's one of the best games I've played. And yeah, when I went back and played through it in online mode that did add massively to the experience and I think it is one of the cleverest online modes I've ever seen, but the game is more that strong enough to be enjoyed without it.

Instead of shutting all the servers down, they should just reduce the number of servers to accommodate the reduced load. I mean, really, how much does it cost to keep a fucking computer turned on somewhere?
Then, I might also actually be able to play with my friends, as we'd be able to actually connect on the same server for once...
