Atlus launches Trauma Team website, now with less nicotine photo

I'll admit right off the bat that I'm a huge fan of the Trauma Center games, so the new website Atlus has just launched gets me all the more excited for its upcoming Wii title, Trauma Team. Among other things, this will feature profiles for the game's six characters, along with a look at each one's unique field of study.

Being unveiled one at a time, the only doctor available at the moment is Gabriel Cunningham, who you may remember seeing with a cigarette in his mouth when Colette first brought us news of the game's announcement. If you compare the header image in that post to the one above, you'll notice that our man Gabriel seems to have since kicked the habit. Good for him. A doctor needs to set an example, after all.

There will also be wallpapers and media available on the site, the first of which is, again, Dr. Cunningham. He strikes a handsome pose with ... wait, is that a cigarette in the background of that image? Dude, come on. I know how tough it is to quit, trust me. But you're a doctor. You could at least pretend to live healthy. Hurry up and put that thing out while I distract everyone with the press release after the jump.

PRESS RELEASE

ATLUS ADMINISTERS LARGE DOSE OF OFFICIAL TRAUMA TEAM WEBSITE

Side-effects may include difficulty blinking eyes and slack jaw!

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 12, 2009 - Atlus U.S.A., Inc., today opened the doors of the official Trauma Team™ website, the upcoming medical entertainment experience from the makers of Trauma Center® and exclusively for Wii™. This first major site update introduces fans to Dr. Gabriel Cunningham, a brilliant albeit cynical diagnostician whose personal challenges seem to have dulled his passion for the job. Expect new sections of the site to open over time, revealing more characters, details, and media from the game.

Encounter unprecedented depth across six distinct fields of medicine: play as a general surgeon, diagnostician, E.M.T., orthopedic surgeon, endoscopic technician, and forensic examiner. Follow the drama as never before with all-new dynamic story sequences inspired by Japanese animation and comics; each chapter comes vividly to life with a style seen nowhere else! Hand-drawn art, innovative animation, and quality voice acting perfectly capture the raw intensity, excitement, and danger of every heart-pounding moment!

Bigger, more exciting, and more balanced than ever before, Trauma Team is the ultimate medical drama! Trauma Team is scheduled for release in Spring 2010.

Now what about if he was voiced by Steve Blum?

If that happens, I would probably force my brother (I'm Wii-less) to buy the game no matter what.

Sorry man you've just gone soft. It's not your fault it's just that someone your age can't compete with the stupidity of the new generations. Really we all knew it would happen with all the correct spelling, justified hate of ACTIVISION and not to mention having a life! You're just not Class A troll material!

I love this series, but there's too much Wii focus for it, when the DS is where its audience really is.

I have the DS sequel, but I was most disappointed when it didn't include any multiplayer or online options. The story is kind of lame now, but always was anyway. I wish they'd just stick to the core concept and run with it.

Also how about including a medical guide with this game, as I feel they should also show players how to use first aid and such, besides the game.

Agreed, the first thing I thought was "Holy crap, it's a ruffled Spike Spiegel...but I guess you can only make so many characters before they all begin to look alike.

Wow the characters look like such typical anime archetypes:
from the left:
1. Tomboyish sexy thang
2. Laid back cool 30 something
3. Sophisticated and formal sexy mama
4. newbie main character; probably dark and/or emo
5. plucky young miss, likely #4's peer
6. experienced elder gentleman with wise words
