Atlus hired Persona 3 fans to make Persona 4 photo

You liked our old game? Come help us make the next one!

Could you imagine?  I would think that would make a really fan-y game, but I'm sure that Atlus had some checks and balances in place. In a postmortem, Atlus said that they added Persona 3 fans to the P4 development team. They helped by getting feedback on the first game and evaluating content on the new one. I thought that Persona 4 improved just about everything wrong with Persona 3, so maybe this should be something game makers do going forward.

There's plenty more interesting tidbits in Atlus' Persona 4 postmortem, found on Gamasutra. They say that they think they flubbed up one of the character's designs, though we won't get into that, as it is a potential spoiler. Also, Atlus says that they didn't think the in-game weather system went off as well as they had originally hoped. I never really thought about it, but now I see what they're talking about. See for yourself in the full postmortem here.

Very cool, another reason why Atlus, and Persona, is so loved.

Wait. I don't want to post spoilers for others but which villain are they talking about that changed through development? Can someone post with hidden text or something? Thanks!!

Hey Atlus, I loved Persona 4! Can I have a job?

I have lots of advice on how to fix things, too. For instance, the game clearly needs more of Funky Student. I think I'd bring a lot to the table in terms of Funky's continuing adventures.

People who were gundam fans in college made Macross and those who were Macross fans in college made Evangelion.

@Scary Womanizing Pig Mask - Thanks! That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Do they mean they would have made that character more "villain-y." It does kind of come out of left field but I didn't have any problems with it.

P4 really did improve on everything I disliked about P3 (and that wasn't much). Awesome strategy, thank you Atlus.

You see, I love dissections of games, since I plan on going into the industry, I find it really interesting.

When it's Persona 4 they are dissecting, I squeal in joy.

Can't wait to see if P5 will jump to the next gen systems. It's like Scooby Doo, a dating sim, and jojo's bizarre adventure all in one.

I hope those fans weren't the reason why Persona 4 had a ton of grinding. That's really one of the games' (and the genres') biggest faults.

But yeah, what everyone else said.

Wait, since when did P4 have tons of Grinding? I hardly spent any time at all in the dungeons.

I truly baffles me when people say Persona has too much grinding involved. I just do not understand the sentiment, since the games are built from the ground up to DISCOURAGE grinding.
