Atlus drops hint at a new Shin Megami Tensei game with this picture photo

What is this? I know it's a Shin Megami Tensei game. There's a silhouette of someone who looks familiar, too. It came in an email with a subject of "???" and nothing else but this picture.

I say maybe he looks like SMT's Jack Frost, but then again, not really. And then what would that tell us anyway? He's a kind of mascot anyway. Whatever he is, he's got the round head going on.

Wait, is it someone wearing a Raidou Kuzunoha hat?. Is this a hint for Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon? Hey, look at this article's header picture and tell me if you see it? Am I crazy?

Yes? Then: Devil Summoner 2? Can it just be Devil Survivor? I want that too.

Atlus, am I getting close? Are you done messing with me?

Any guesses, Destructoid?

I just got that email. Pretty much freaked me out, and got me really stoked.

I don't know if it really matters or not, but RMC over at GoNintendo received this email as well. Why would they be sending it to a Nintendo related website? It might be nothing. They probably just sent it to everyone in their press related address book. Who knows!?

It's probably for King Abbadon, but more would be nice.

I'm not too fluent in the SMT universe but the plushie you posted looks almost exactly the same as that shadow to me.

After beating Persona 4, I demand a real-time action RPG starring Naoto. And then you can solve mysteries.

Make it happen.

@Phoenix

So Final Fantasy XII (can't think of a better example at the moment) and Professor Layton? I am so down with that idea, especially since Naoto is a bad ass.

Isn't it just for Devil Summoner on the DS, already released in Japan?

It's Raiho people. It was a demon companion from the first PS2 Devil Summoner. I would bet real money that this is an announcement for Devil Summoner Vs. Abaddon King.

Definitely Raidou. You can tell by the hat and cloak.

If this is Raidou, I hope to God it comes with the updated Nocturne, too. I haven't gotten a chance to play that one yet.

I'll bet they do it, too. We ended up getting the better deal with Persona 3, so I wouldn't put it past them.

Yay for Raidou!

But the real question is: When are we going to see a PS3/360 SMT game?

That'd be awesome. Persona 5 for the current systems, please.

I'm really enjoying Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online at the moment, so I'm actually looking to maybe give some of the other games in the series a shot.

@ThunderHeartXI:

I was thinking something more along the lines of a third person shooter meets Phoenix Wright, but I love FFXII and Layton too :D

Having just spent 150 hours on Persona 4, I am READY for the next SMT, I need screenshots, videos, release datesr NOW

*as a side note, I'm playing Resistance 2 single player right now and am so f***ing frustrated with the Chicago level right now I want to punch something. Sorry for being off topic, I just really needed to vent somewhere.

That's it, Devil Survivor for DS, not Devil Summoner xD I've seen screenshots and Jack Frost is in it.

Jack Frost is in Devil Survivor, but RAIHO is not. It is clearly Raiho. Thus, it is Devil Summoner 4.

Well i think King Abaddon is actually the 3rd Devil Summoner game, with the first on the Saturn and second the PS2 Raidou game. Is my head swelling? Correct me if I'm wrong.

It could be Devil Survivor for DS, but I doubt it, because we already know about it. Atlus sent those emails out to us to get us asking these question, and they are working. For this reason, and what that silhouette is dressed in I'm convinced its Raidou vs King Abaddon. RvsKA hasn't been released in the U.K/EU either, so it would make sense.

I doubt we'll see any Persona games on PS3 or 360 for a while from Atlus, definitely not PS3 anyway (due to those huge dev costs). I think beyond PS2, PSP is a very viable option, since it PS2 will be on its last legs soon. 360 and Wii might stir things in a positive light, as both would welcome the series.

I would love if this coming game used SMT's old art style like in Digital Devil Saga, with the weird eyes and all.
