Atelier Rorona announced as PS3 exclusive photo

Gust has revealed via Famitsu that it is working on a brand new RPG, Atelier Rorona, for the PlayStation 3. Although only confirmed for Japan so far, it seems doubtful that the game won't follow previous Gust RPGs and find its way to North America.

I've only played one Atelier game before, Atelier Iris on the PlayStation 2. It was a pretty fun RPG too, so I'm glad to hear that more is coming. Besides which, who could refuse another solid RPG on the PS3? Not me, because I'm not a git.

So far there's no information on what this new game in the Atelier series will bring, apart from a phrase that accompanies the Famitsu spread -- "I'm tired of saving the world." According to some Web site we stole the scans from, this is the catchphrase of Atelier Marie, a character from the franchise's "Salburg series."

More details will be coming out on March 27, so stay tuned for that!

@Chronic
4 years ago, who would have ever thought that statement would be completely non-ironic?

NIS should re-release all three Atelier Iris games.

*In the meanwhile* Microsoft is negotiating with Gust..

Normally I wouldn't be so excited but the oh so awesome Koei brings games like this one to Europe. I love 'em for that. Plus we usually get a free soundtrack too.

I wish I was not at work, so that I could scream. I love Gust games. Their signature 2D sprites ridin' high in HD should be a treat to behold.

I don't even like RPGs, but everyone else seems to be really happy about this so I can't help but join in. Woo, Atelier Whateverna! I hope it's awesome.

It will be an exclusive, but then out of the blue in a "shocking" announcement, it will be simultaneously released for the 360, PC and Wii.

I'm REALLY excited for this!!! I have all of them, except for 3, but once I find a copy I will pick it up.

As perhaps the site's most vocal Gust fanboy (pistols at dawn to determine the TRUE believer, Gilder! ;)), none of you (except possibly Gilder) have any idea how giddy I am to hear that Gust is still doing its thing, and is set to move to the next generation (after making me and my PS2 very very happy, of course). I already knew that I was going to eventually need a PS3, but this officially cements it (what was the last Gust game to go multiplatform, anyway...Atelier Marie on the PS1/Saturn?).

It's games like these which make me want to buy a PS3. If there are enough interesting exclusive games by Christmas then maybe I'll think about buying one again.
