Atari launches the official Alone in the Dark site photo

It's no secret that Destructoid is pretty excited about the upcoming release of Alone in the Dark, and I'm sure that's nothing next to the amount of readers that are salivating over the upcoming survival horror title. Not content with simply working us up into a frenzy, Atari has announced the release of the official site, which does a bang-up job of blowing the hype through the roof with haunting, epic music and interactive elements.

The new site allows you to explore selected locations in the game, check out the world map, pick up items and see previews of what in-game actions will be like. There are also screens, video and downloadable wallpapers (but you must navigate through the site and pick up items first in order to unlock these goodies.) Pretty smart way to get people to stay on the site...I have to admit it worked on me. July can't come soon enough.

Strange to have a protagonist who is in the awkward process of growing a goatee. Usually you let the full beard grow for a bit and then shave the rest off, so you don't end up looking like that guy.

@Lewis Bell: Well who else is going to save the world? It sure as hell isn't going to be Brandon Routh.

That man looks quite serious. At least we'll know who plays him in the movie. Alone in the Dark 2, here we come.
