At least one version of GT5 may ship with three discs photo

Forza Motorsport 3 shipped with two discs. Gran Turismo 5 may ship with three.

In a recent video spotted by GT Planet, game creative director and speed enthusiast Kazunori Yamauchi talks a bit the Mercedes’ 2011 SLS AMG in relation to the game. It’s a natural thing to talk about -- the sleek car might grace the cover of the packaging. But when he whipped the game out during the video, it wasn’t just a lone box -- there were three different cases, none of which we’re familiar with.

As Joystiq notes, signs seem to point towards this being the Collectors or “Special” Edition version of the game. Word on the street is that Blu-rays are pretty big mediums, able to hold significant amounts of data. Surely Polyphony Digital wouldn’t have a problem ramming 87 bajillion cars on a lone disc, right? Hell, Borderlands fit that many guns on a DVD.

Win. >1 Bluray = serious amount of data.

If old video's in Home and the teasers in Prologue are to be believed, GT5 incorporates a selection of High Def Racing related TV, what looks like quite a huge selection. Like the GT to real life Dubai race driver reality show thingy etc.

So yeah, I figured it would be a streaming thing, but if the game's shipping with 3 blu-rays, then i'm assuming a fair bit of it's on there.

Or do you mean, like 3 different Versions?

Actually, this isn't that bad - if there's 3 discs of actual content, then sure, it's a win-situation. But, it'll probably be the game on one disc, a movie about the entire history of the GT franchise, and the last one is probably going to be the bonus/making-of/other bullshit. Either way, it won't be the worth the $120 they're sure to charge for it, and whatever bonus "reality show" programming they attach to it will probably only involve a few episodes and then they'll want to charge you out the ass for the rest on PSN.

Now, the $60 regular version will be totally worth the coinage involved in obtaining it. Just had to get that out there as an endnote.

Is this Blu-Ray fail?

I wonder if there will be disc swapping or will they require a full 50-100GB install to play this game.

Whatever the case is, I'm sure it will include the shitty license tests that always made me quit playing. I am playing a racing game... I am not going to the DMV and applying for my race car license. If I am going to fail in a certain class of competition, let me.

Considering this game looks worse than Forza 3, they must be some shitty devs

What if one disc was entirely full of remakes of the previous games?!!?!

Wishful thinking, even though that would probably be too much game for anyone in one purchase. I doubt they would need 150gb of data for their new game though.
