I like the idea of a space-exploration MMO. But uhh, why the hell does an institute like NASA require a Kickstarter? The incentives for donating a kind of cool, but still..
Anyway, the idea is great and I hope it will turn out well. Always loved the idea of exploring space. And educational as well.

I like the idea that in our lifetime, we may be able to actually go into space. That also depends on how old you are and when how old you will live to be. I still love the idea though! Too bad the Cold War couldn't have lasted another 10 or 20 years, where we just tried to 1-up Russia all the time and vastly improving our technology!

Yeah, I grew up wanting to be an astronaut. I've watched Shuttle landings in the Mojave, Shuttle launches in Florida, and seen the shuttle up close when it was being shipped. A game like this will allow me and others to live out the childhood dreams we had (which currently aren't available in the real world).
I like the game idea, and I would play the shit out of this. I'm just angry that it feels like actual space travel is being replaced with simulated space travel.

If anybody were to actually read or watch the video from the Kickstarter page, NASA is not the one who is asking for this money (although these days, i'm sure Kickstarter would award them more cash than the Government would)
NASA awarded a commercial license to the winner of a contest. The developer who won is who's behind the Kickstarter. NASA is helping to oversee the project but they are not directly developing it, and are not solely funding it
