@Concerns about the setting...
The first game had a sprawling landscape where you road long distances to get from one settlement to the next, and each settlement consisted mostly of one and two story structures with a few towers here and there. The American colonies were basically just like that, a cluster of low-lying structures with watch towers, church steeples, and large mansions where the governors lived. All they have to do is throw in a few extra towers here and there and it could be exactly like the first game. You also have forts, mountains, huge forests, caves, and other shit you could throw in there for some interesting gameplay segments. Hell, maybe we can climb trees and get the drop on some Yankees as they patrol the forest. I keep thinking of the movie "The Patriot" and how how badass it'll be to sink a hatchet into some bastard's face. Who's with me?

I was really hoping for a China/ Japan based setting seeing as how the Embers movie hinted toward that.

The reason America gets the hate it does is due to its history since World War 2. Yeah guys we appreciate that but you can't ride on it forever.

Who says this won't cross over into Canada at some point? The French played a major role in the American revolution. Maybe some of that will be highlighted in the game. And who says the Assassins aren't trying to take out the American colonists and Redcoats alike? Maybe this dude is out to kill all the white people. We'll see I guess.

After my Revelations save file mysteriously disappearing and now the stupidest idea since Fonzy jumped the shark in Happy Days... I think that this series is dead to me.

I can say that, as an American, I'm not particularly thrilled about my country of birth, but then again EVERY country has some kind of problem in some way so I'm not sure if I could anticipate having a better life anywhere else. No matter where I go, people will be there!

@Justin Annett I said that just to piss you off. And you act like Canadians aren't assholes. From what I hear, Canada is one of the cleanest countries there is. Yet Canadians come to our malls and shop and throw their boxes and shit all over the ground. I live in Buffalo, NY. There are more Canadians in our mall than Americans it seems like sometimes. Also, Canadians act ad if they're better all the time. The bottomline is Canada is just not all that interesting a setting for a game.
Even if America isn't PERFECT per se, it seems fitting that the battle for the fate of the planet would take place in the biggest and best country in the world.

you're correct in a way, but the centrepeices of the previous games have been big beautiful and tightly packed cities with lots of cool structures. as cool and interesting as some american cities are today i'm not sure that the material they will be working with in this game can really provide the same kind of atmosphere or gameplay as we've seen before.

I think it's going to be a really interesting setting, especially if you're playing as a Native American assassin. I was just as excited to see a female protagonist or a move to China but I trust that the story and gameplay will continue to deliver (for me at least).
BTW, I'm American and want to say that self righteousness is probably more a product of being on the internet with no consequences as douchebaggery is a global phenomenon. That said, I did lol at the hat.

I really hate the amount of people slagging off this game from just a couple of pictures. If you don't like the setting then wait for some information about the game before saying it's going to suck!

considering the developer has shown a willingness to support the franchise with supplements via other media then perhaps following that route would be a better idea for this part of the story if the gameplay wasn't able to meet expectations in the proposed setting.

Not that I mind America, it’s just that Assassin’s Creed has been the only series to set itself in some interesting historical periods, nobody else sets games in realistic depictions of the Crusades or the Renaissance, so to go to America is kind of.......unsatisfying.
I liked AC2 and Brotherhood, and Revelations was kind of cool, but its starting to get stale. The parkour, repetitive dungeons, reclaiming a city, thieves, courtesans, guild. Its cool stuff, butI its all been done many times before. Im going to have a hard time staying positive about this.

We generally don't act like we are better than everyone else, Racism is something that doesn't really happen where I live at least, I fee like the majority of people I know are nice people but the majority of people I have met when traveling down south are terrible individuals.

The game could take place in fucking Puerto Rico for all I care. As long as it's American territory, it's already better than any other setting in the world.

only played up to 2. Brotherhood seems to be the best(Master Assassin outfit FTW) so i have alot of catching up to do.

You can just look at license plates lol Also I worked in a shoe store in the mall, so I have talked to a lot of canadians. I was overexagerating. I'm not saying every Canadian is an asshole, but I have ran into a bunch of them.

I'd like to see some stealth gameplay features added since we wont have as much vertical space to traverse. Not sure if this would work for the series but its something I have wanted to see for a while. It always frustrated me that you could remain unseen and assassinate your target in the other games and no matter what, after the kill cutscene, all the guards would be after you.
Well this is disappointing. I'll probably end up buying it anyway, but not until it gets a price drop. I'm a huge history buff but American history is simply not that exciting. Also, unlike the past settings, America didn't really develop particularly tall buildings until the 19th century, so I can't imagine the parkour aspects are going to be that interesting either.
I mean, there was so much potential. London in the 1800s, France during the Revolution, China during during the 18th and 19th century, and so many other places with untold potential. I'm American but America just sounds so drab in comparison. And even worse, I expect this to just end up being an America circlejerk. I doubt there will even be any sympathetic British characters since the average American is so poorly educated that most don't even know that both sides had legitimate reasons to go to war. Probably going to end up being 20-30 hours of "FUCK THE BRITISH, GO AMERICA".
