Assassin's Creed II allegedly suffers from a game-breaking glitch, which is weird, because I thought the game was plenty broken already. In any case, this particular bug is said to have dire consequences for any player who falls into its trap, forcing victims to completely restart the game from scratch. Having to play through it once is bad enough, so this is understandably terrible news.
Apparently, if you turn your console off directly after the autosave that follows Chapter 11's completion, you could ruin your whole save file. Those that have suffered the glitch say that the game will load the hideout the next time it's booted up, but that nothing else will load. Players will essentially be wandering in limbo.
Ubisoft has not commented on the situation, but the simple solution is this -- manually save after Chapter 11 as soon as you get the option to. Shouldn't be a major problem for most people, but forewarned is forearmed, so consider this your warning.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
The Save Troll? That sounds like a rare and mythical beast indeed. I, too, would like to know about the Save Troll. It's not related to the Cave Troll, is it?
I shall hunt this creature and bring you its head!
Only thing was the graphics before venice sucked but that's all.
Anyway, that being said. I agree with(although it was not a well formed sentence) the person earlier. We only need to know about the save bug. You could stand to be less of a troll about it.
Review of The Saboteur going up at 2pm Central today. :-)
If you quit out of the game, it saves.
You horrible person.
If your wife bought you a gift you should accept it... it's her thought not yours!
Plus I would go with the majority on this one... Jim is the only one scoring it abysmally, but if you wan o be evangelical towards Jim's score then be my gues.
Mine randomly locks when I double assassinate though.
I have the PS3 version and I just achieved (heh) a platinum trophy with no problems. It's not the best game in the world but it's fun.
the game was a disappointment pure and simple, i didnt know there could be such a thing as IP fanboys
Seriously? I've only heard good things about it so far.. :<
I will be sure to not quit out when I reach this part. Even if the game bugs me, I'm way to OCD to not get EVERY PIECE OF ARTWORK EVER.
I wouldn't call a 71 Metacritic average "overwhelmingly negative."
I can only assume that the whole point of the review was an exercise in seeing how many morons would chime up in agreement with Jim no matter what he said about the game.
More power to him for getting away with belittling one of the best games of the year. You truly are a god among insects, monsieur Sterling.
And while I understand that you hate the game, I think that you should keep an open mind. Many people enjoy it quite a lot despite it's flaws, and your childish comments about it make you look like a... child.
Point being, nearly every critic agreed AC II was a top notch title: including a drove of smaller blogs, and from what every review of The Saboteur says, it suffers from a lot of the exact same problems as Assassins Creed I.
All the hate over the review is hilarious. Just because you liked the game that doesn't mean everyone agree's with your opinion.
A review is someone's opinion and nothing more. You have your opinion, Jim has his.
Right now your the one trolling a two week old review, get over it.
Pretentious bastards
Apparently people aren't allowed to have opinions that differ from your own?
How am I being pretentious, or putting my head up Jim's ass?
I nor Agreed, nor disagreed with his or Autumn's statements. He stated his opinion 2 weeks ago, and people like yourself are still here bringing it up every post he makes.
He did not like AC2, get over it and move on with your life.
