Assassin's Creed II has a game-breaking glitch? photo

Assassin's Creed II allegedly suffers from a game-breaking glitch, which is weird, because I thought the game was plenty broken already. In any case, this particular bug is said to have dire consequences for any player who falls into its trap, forcing victims to completely restart the game from scratch. Having to play through it once is bad enough, so this is understandably terrible news.

Apparently, if you turn your console off directly after the autosave that follows Chapter 11's completion, you could ruin your whole save file. Those that have suffered the glitch say that the game will load the hideout the next time it's booted up, but that nothing else will load. Players will essentially be wandering in limbo.

Ubisoft has not commented on the situation, but the simple solution is this -- manually save after Chapter 11 as soon as you get the option to. Shouldn't be a major problem for most people, but forewarned is forearmed, so consider this your warning.

You know I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Assasins Creed 2 was a mediocre as its predecessor.

Funny I did turn of my PS3 after said autosave. No bug though.

I always manually save before shutting a game off, because a huge amount of games have this problem.

"We only need to know about the save troll."

The Save Troll? That sounds like a rare and mythical beast indeed. I, too, would like to know about the Save Troll. It's not related to the Cave Troll, is it?

I shall hunt this creature and bring you its head!

My wife told me she bought this game for me for Christmas. I told her to return it after the review then started feeling like I should give it a shot. I don't feel that way now. Thanks Jim!

hey jim AC2 was pretty good, tons of stuff to do, I don't understand why you call it bad. I played for 30 hours and faced no major bug.

Only thing was the graphics before venice sucked but that's all.

Y'know Jim, I think AC2 was fantastic. I despise most RPGs so I would never do a review of FFXIII or Dragon Age, because its just not my thing. If you hate a game most people love, then maybe your issue is bigger than the game itself. Do you generally enjoy the genre of these 3rd person "action" games?

Anyway, that being said. I agree with(although it was not a well formed sentence) the person earlier. We only need to know about the save bug. You could stand to be less of a troll about it.

There's a manual save option? I played through the whole game without ever manually saving.

Plus I would go with the majority on this one... Jim is the only one scoring it abysmally, but if you wan o be evangelical towards Jim's score then be my gues.

Jim, Mind making AC2 sound like it's a game that satan himself developed? I understand you liked it, but you don't have to rip it on every thing you post of this game, The review was enough criticism. I'm not saying that you're not entitled your opinion, but when posting news on a game that's not review related, you maybe could try laying off the criticism.

I am playing through the game right now, and I have to say Jim's review was the most honest and probably most correct of all of them. While I don't hate the game nearly as much as he did, it still has huge fundamental flaws. I really don't know how people could give it higher then a 9; probably a 6 or 7 for me. Which is funny, because my friend who originally swore up and down how much he loved the game (he loved the first one too) is slowly realizing after the honeymoon is over that it really has a lot of real issues.
I will be sure to not quit out when I reach this part. Even if the game bugs me, I'm way to OCD to not get EVERY PIECE OF ARTWORK EVER.

I'm honestly surprised that anyone would ever quit at that point... Its definitely an unfortunate glitch and would probably cause me to completely abandon the game. Regardless, AC2 still rocked my socks off. Played it for nigh 30 hours so far and am truly as impressed as ever.

Jesus christ. I feel for the poor sap in the comments who is missing out on playing ACII because he took Jim's troll review seriously. What a dumbass. Don't you know by now that Jim doesn't actually know much at all about reviewing, but is rather just a controversial son of a bitch for the fun of it?
I can only assume that the whole point of the review was an exercise in seeing how many morons would chime up in agreement with Jim no matter what he said about the game.
More power to him for getting away with belittling one of the best games of the year. You truly are a god among insects, monsieur Sterling.

I didn't know there was a way to manually save your assassins creed game.

And while I understand that you hate the game, I think that you should keep an open mind. Many people enjoy it quite a lot despite it's flaws, and your childish comments about it make you look like a... child.

I should have said the response to The Saboteur has been overwhelmingly MEH.

Point being, nearly every critic agreed AC II was a top notch title: including a drove of smaller blogs, and from what every review of The Saboteur says, it suffers from a lot of the exact same problems as Assassins Creed I.

All the hate over the review is hilarious. Just because you liked the game that doesn't mean everyone agree's with your opinion.

A review is someone's opinion and nothing more. You have your opinion, Jim has his.

Right now your the one trolling a two week old review, get over it.
