Assassin's Creed II clothes available for your 360 Avatar photo

Assassin's Creed II, which ships to stores next week, now has its own Xbox LIVE Marketplace Avatar store. Neato!

The store contains 28 items total for both girls and boys, including renaissance masks, hats, and wristbands. The best items, of course, are the most expensive -- the guard armor, the Altair outfit, and the Ezio outfit will run you 400 MS Points a piece. One of the items is particularly neat -- Da Vinci's Flying Machine (240 MS Points).

I've still yet to spend a single MS Point on Avatar clothing/items, myself. I'm not sure if this is going to change my mind, but I will admit that I think I'd look pretty bad ass in an Ezio outfit.

Don't give in! You never use the guy for anything, so why waste money on him?
I will admit that looks cool, but honestly...no point.

Those actually look pretty good. But I don't think I will pay money for them. Too bad they aren't avatar rewards for buying/playing the game.

If Microsoft just created an online game featuring your avatars, then sales of avatars would skyrocket. It worked with Battlefield Heroes didn't it?

Can I just purchase the wrist blade? I'd love it if my black suit, sunglasses, and glove wearing avatar occasionally flipped a hidden knife out of his sleeve in idle animations.

To be honest, avatar clothing would make fine unlockables, next to achievements, for PLAYING THE GAMES.

Paying for stuff is fucking stupid. But hey, unlocked avatar costumes for beating the game? Why not, I'd prolly even take the 30 seconds to change my dude's outfit. Maybe.

There's definitely some cool stuff out there for avatars, but nothing that I've felt is worth my money. I'm digging the freebies that came with Waypoint though, and looking forward to L4D2's unlockables.

@Chronic Logic:

MS has a free to play (mostly) racing/party game coming to XBLA soon where you'll use your avatars.

The Waypoint freebies were pretty cool actually. Considering they were free.

@MCChampaignMillionaire

Because if it was then people would start expecting everything for free.

I always balk at people who wear shirts in real life with clothing logos plastered all over them. What's so cool about a shirt that says Adisas or Nike? You're paying a premium to advertise for a company. This is no different, expect you need to buy real clothing anyways. Avatar clothing doesn't even serve a practical purpose. Who buys this stuff?!?

I think stuff like this, as what has been said already, should be avatar unlockables by buying and playing the respective game. If I'm expected to throw down a cool $60 on a new game, is it so hard to throw in some $2-3 avatar clothes for when I beat it or get certain achievements?
Oh, wait, that would be a nice bonus for FREE. Heaven forbid we do that.

Bought the Ezio costume last night within an hour of it being release (at least, within an hour of the story breaking on Kotaku).

Second avatar item I've ever actually purchase, the other being the newsboy hate from the Recession Style line (it's the closet thing that resembles the real hat I wear all the time).

Gosh I had a lot of errors in my last post.

Also meant to say that I'm typically pretty resistant to buying avatar stuff -- I think it's a decent idea but most of the stuff is overpriced. However, when it comes to Assassin's Creed, I can't deny that I absolutely LOVE the style.

@ Oncomouse: Kind of agreed on clothing logos. It's absolutely unnecessary in digital form (such as some of the licensed styles on Xbox Live), but I do wear logos on my clothing in real life. I have several band t-shirts, and a couple of gaming-related t-shirts (Fruit F***** t-shirt from Penny Arcade; Metal Gear Solid 4 t-shirt), a shirt that displays my college logo, and an Autobot t-shirt. I think it's ok as long as you have an interest in whatever you're sporting, but I can't personally fathom having a deep interest in a brand name.

I don't get why people are so outraged about avatar clothing. How is it different than purchasing gamerpics? If you're against both, I understand that, but I never see people flipping out because gamerpics cost money.

I think of buying clothes for my avatar like turning to the dark side. I always remind myself "It's not worth it. Don't do it! DAVE! NOOOOO!" and then I realize I have to get out my credit card and then I stop.

Sad to say, I know someone in person who gave out his Live password to someone promising to boost his gamerscore, of all things. Never underestimate how seriously some people take the most meaningless virtual BS.

Charging users to have their avatar wear items that promote their games is asinine and so is anyone you shell's out the dough. I'm a die-hard Star Wars fan but $10 to hold a lightsaber? stupid. Luca$, Micro$oft, Ubi$oft and the rest really need the money!
