Assassin's Creed gets the Hollywood green light photo

Ubisoft knows a cash cow when they see one. Along with the announcement of their digital movie studio in Montreal, Canada came the word that the studio's first project will be a film adaption of Assassin's Creed. The Quebec political estabishment was tickled pink by the news, considering that Ubisoft is slated to create 1,400 jobs by the year 2013. Less unemployed bums is always a good thing.

Surely some of you are gagging already, considering how the average video game movie ends up playing out on the big screen. Choke back that vomit: Ubisoft has made it clear that they want the game's universe to remain true in it's onscreen translation. In fact, they say the same people making the games will be working closely with the people creating the films to ensure the accuracy and mood is not lost. Sound too good to be true? We have no way to know until we see the finished product, but one thing is for sure: better video game films could be right around the corner.

I have high hopes for this, provided that Ubisoft keeps a close eye on it, I think it could be a really well done flick.

Do we even know if the main character speaks? It seems like a good concept. Execution on the other hand...

I think it's too early to call for a movie before the game is even released...

Why is that Scape? Your logic is fucking retarded. Tell your dad to stop raping you while you sleep.

@Diverse

I was just wondering. Maybe you've seen some game footage I haven't. Sorry to piss you off so much.

Am I the only one that read the article to find out its going to only be 8 minutes long? What gives? This is blowing up on Digg as well because the OP didn't read all the way to the end.

They're forming the studio so they'll probably make a full-feature length movie sometime, but this won't be it. 8 minutes guys, its like a CG short. It will rock

They still don't even have a release date. I have a feeling the game is going to be pushed back until 08.

I thought it was supposed to be released in April. They've delayed it, but it seems like they would push it back to Holiday '07 at the latest. I hope so at least...

The 8 minute length is the way to go. It's like an extended cutscene. I'm hoping for something like the Halo commercial, except much longer. I just wanna see this dude doing some badass shit.

Movies that seem hard to fuck up tend to get fucked up 95% of the time.
