You know what we don't have enough of? World War II games! But wait, don't hang up just yet. Far from talking about making yet another generic Nazi-shooter, Ubisoft has apparently been discussing where to take the Assassin's Creed series next. After stating that the next game could star a female killer, producer Sebastian Puel mentioned what kind of time period a woman should appear in.
"We've had discussions on that very topic," he states, talking about a female assassin. "It could be really interesting but we'd need to find the right time period and place for that.
"Where would that make sense? We don't want to just decide we want to change and have a female hero as the first inspiration is always the time period, but if you're talking about, say, World War II the economies in England and France were run by women because the men were off fighting."
Puel also talked about how easy the series is to expand: "I'm often asked if we're doing a third game after ACII ... I mean, we could do thirty-five of these."
Knowing Ubisoft, I wouldn't be surprised if they did release thirty-five of them ... for starters. As for a female WWII assassin, I hope they learn from the mistakes of others first.

Oh wait, they already made that game. I loved it. It was called Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
But seriously, on topic I don't really care where the series goes, as I'm just hoping that the second game is actually as good as they say it will be, unlike the first one.
Turning Point was an AWFUL game, but a GREAT, and FRESH concept. I don't see how assassins creed would work in a WWII setting, but could you imagine assassinating hitler?
A female assassin would be cool. I'm always for more interesting female heroes.
Wouldn’t mind a female assassin but you know half the missions would revolve around seducing men then killing them.
but really, how about doing what AC1 implied was gonna happen and have the game take place in the present timeline...
I think AC3 should take place during the French Revolution.
Also, why do people ask Puel if there's going to be a third Assassin's Creed? Wasn't it announced as a trilogy to begin with? Those people must have really bad memory.
First one in medieval times
Second one during the Rennaissance
So Assassin's Creed the 3rd will be set in Georgian England/Napoleonic Wars
And Assassin's Creed Goes Forth will be set in a trench in WWI
After that they'll talk about doing a 5th one but won't be able to get the cast together.
Someone else that liked Velvet Assassin!
It was a little rough around the edges on some technical issues, but the core gameplay wasn't really any different than the first Splinter Cell. Most stealth fans thought that was awesome, so I never got what the problem with VA was.
How about during the French Revolution? It sounds weird, but that would be some new territory, and they could probably make it work. Yeah, I think I'd like to infiltrate a crowded public beheading. I think I'd like that a lot. You'd be taking out members of the Committee of Public Safety or something like that. I don't know, I'm brain storming.
I mean yeah WWII is cool...I guess.
Big selling point: lesbian affair with marie antionette
WIN!!!
Personally I'd like to see sone Industrial Revolution type stuff. A lot of interesting weapon possibilities what with all the new technologies at the time.
----- Please, don't.
Ancient Rome
Victorian Britain
Feudal Japan
Napoleonic Wars
medival europe
etc
etc
If you have a game which is focused on third person action, stealth and sword play then please visit time periods where swords are still used. WW2 is a perfectly fine place for a game and that game is already beeing made (saboteur). And has already been made a hundred times.
Assassin's creed during the french revolution in Paris could be tons of fun. I'm not against a central/north Europe focus, but I'm so tired of playing fictions in the World War II era, it might be enough to turn me away. An American Revolution setting could be cool too. Just, not World War II please.
WWII? Very no.
